Title: Mk6 GT TDI 2.0L 140bhp Thoughts and Reliability?
Post by: willni on January 16, 2019, 09:10:44 pm
Hello All,

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with the 140bhp 2.0 GT TDI, it's 2011 but I don't have the exact engine code. Considering as the mk5's 2.0 diesel were good I'm hoping the mk6 is also good, is there anything to watch out for?

No sure about those but I have a 170 GTD and it drives lovely.

I would say usual stuff applies - dual mass flywheel injector problems and making sure it's been maintained well (DSG services done promptly if it's an auto)

Thanks shoay, full (8) dealer service history other than cambelt and pump with 32,000 miles on it so should be fine.

Haven’t heard much about mk6 diesel golfs so might be a good thing.

I had one (a late 2009) for about 4 years. A 3Dr,  on factory 18s.  Really good car,  not very exciting,  but it was really lovely to drive,  never,  ever let me down,  all I put into it apart from tyres/pads and oil/filters were  front wishbone bushes (once),  a bonnet catch (they seize) , a steering arm.
I drove mine somewhere between brisk and hard all the time,  never had a problem with EGR or DPF or Cat,   but I did put a good fuel treatment (BG) in regularly.

I miss it tbh. Lively enough to keep up with most normal cars,  super comfortable,  tidy handling,  rattle free and between 50 and 60 mpg.
