Title: Turbo inlet diamter
Post by: Beanmk5 on February 03, 2019, 07:17:48 pm
Hi I'm new to the forum so hi to all
I'm not totally clued up with modifying cars but eager to learn

I am going to get my car remapped but 1st I'm going to install a k&n typhoon induction kit
I got the kit off my friend cheap but unfortunately I'm missing the silicone part that connects the induction pipe to the turbo inlet

So question is I want to know the diameter of the pipe on the turbo so I can buy correct size silicone reducer, the induction pipe is about 70mm so needing to know if I need a reducer or straight pipe to mate the two together
I don't want to strip it down to get to the pipe to have to put it all back together again as need the silicone pipe

Thanks in advance

not a direct answer, sorry.. but if it helps, I have the ram air induction kit.. and my induction hard pipe is also 70mm.. i remember measuring when I was buying an end cap to fit inside the silicone pipe (to make a boost leak tester).

I can assure you, the silicone pipe you'll need will not be a straight diameter pipe, the turbo inlet is definitely smaller than the induction kit pipe so yes you will need a silicone reducer pipe. as for the size of inlet, sorry I cant help.

I'm thinking it's 2.5" but would like it confirming for definite, I've been told 2.5 but lad wasn't 100%

he just came back to me... said the internal diameter is 62mm so pretty much 2.5" is correct.. that's the size reducer you'll need :)
