Time to get upto date and get some apple car play in the GTi.
So far i have looked at these units.
VW one units, expensive but the CarPlay version doesn’t have DAB, they also need updated canbus and coding. Hard work...
Kenwood Vw units, expensive and clunky but are plug and play... my preferred choice as they look good once installed. Apparently these are built for the VW mk5 and don’t drain the battery... is this correct?
Zenec, Undecided on these...are they plug and play, do they drain the battery because this might be a good option as they are selling for around £500 on eBay.
Finally after market head unit, lots of choice and for £5-600 I can get a wireless CarPlay unit AVH-Z9100 pioneer for this. Draw backs are that it doesn’t look oem. Plus points are thatit is plug and play with CTKVW18 fitting kit which I have been told fixes the battery drain.
Am I missing anything?
I looked at the PURE DAB kit as a cheaper options but navigating the menus looks awkward plus it doesn’t give me apple play.
Ideas, suggestions welcome

What year is your car? RCD330 plus works fine in mine, no coding required, no battery drain. No DAB either though!

2005, really would like DAB though

I installed Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB.
DAB and carplay. Steering wheel controls work. No battery issues. I also had a reversing camera installed at the same time. Even on stock speakers its sounds pretty good. Likely going to add an under seat sub to give a bit more oompf. Highly recommended and pretty good price wise. Yes it doesn't look OEM but when I sell I will stick the original back in.

KJNGTi - which head unit did you end up getting? I'm in the same position as you were and am seeking advice?
