Title: Looking at an ed30 on Friday - things to check for?
Post by: ed30-Ryan on February 20, 2019, 09:06:42 pm
Found an edition30 about 15 minutes from me at a small car sales shop.

75,000 miles - 1 previous (apparently mature) owner.

Some notable attractive comments from the listing:

They're asking for 7995 for it - doesn't seem far from what it's worth to be honest? hopefully can knock a bit off but this seems like a really good car to buy, I almost feel guilty that one of the first thing I'll do if i buy it is be getting it mapped.

Anything else apart from what's been mentioned that I should be looking out for?

Cheers

Make sure to check over the sills and arches for any corrosion, make sure cambelt + waterpump have been done, if it's DSG make sure it's had the oil and filter changed every 40k, make sure it sits at 90 degrees when warm (new thermostat needed if it doesn't), try and have a quick scan underneath around the wishbone area to see if the bushes are perished. Then just check the usual.. oil leaks/damp patches in the engine bay etc. They are at the age now where lots of problems can start to arise if it hasn't been well cared for!

sounds promising.. go and have a look and see what you think. There is plenty.. PLENTY of posts on here talking about all the things to check and look out for when buying one of these cars.

have a scroll through the general area and have a ganders.. bring yourself up to speed with the common issues before looking (that's assuming you're new to these)

hope it works out to be a nice one  :happy2:
