Title: Help upgrading headunit

Hi guys, just picked up an edition 30 this afternoon, absolutely loving it.

Could do with a headunit upgrade, I’ve sourced the following: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-5-MIB-Original-CarPlay-New-RCD330-Plus-for-VW-w-Cable-6RD-035-187-B-Version-B-/201980647835

And I see that I need to upgrade the can gateway to a model past revision L, is it simply a swap and then plug the headunit in or do I need vcds go code the new headunit/can gateway? Tried a search but couldn’t find much, I’m guessing vcds is extremely useful and I should probably invest in that anyway.

I see on the eBay listing it says “no code is need” but just wanted a second kpinion because that could mean anything given it’s a foreign listing haha

Any help is appreciated!

Also, often lots of chinese products sold "in the UK" on eBay is from Ali Express.

I have a VCDS cable in the North, where are you based? There's a section on this forum showing where people are too.

Have a look at the audio section under modifications. Plenty of info on these headunits.

They are made for VW in China and Russia. A lot of people buy them for the CarPlay feature and of course the price.

Hi mate, I’m in Huddersfield, so West Yorkshire.

Thankfully I managed to cancel that order, I’ll do a bit more research on the forum before rushing into it
