Title: Skyline mod, little problem..
Post by: BurakGTI on March 09, 2019, 10:48:03 pm
Hello dear GTI riders,

Today I have performed the "skyline MOD" on my Golf 5 GTI.
I used LED rings.

Now I have the following problem, when I have my car on contact, the LED rings burn nicely.
As soon as I start my car start, the LED rings start to flash.
How do I ensure that the LED rings stay on?
Should there be a resistance / relay between them?

Who can help me with this?

Sounds like your car is sending a current through to the bulb to test them.

It's called cold diagnostics. Not sure of the backlights but people recommend Canbus Error Free bulbs, they have a circuit built into them sometimes with a driver.

Anyway, you might be able to fix the flashing by turning off cold diagnostics with VCDS in Central Electrics.

thank you, problem has been resolved, I have connected the cable to the rear lights, they were previously on the license plate light, that was the problem.
