Title: Speedometer Not working
Post by: Deeko01 on March 17, 2019, 10:46:13 pm
Hi Guys,

Speedo has packed in on my 2007 Golf. The rev counter, warning lights and fuel gauge are ok but no speedo and no mileage read out so I am off the road with no clue how to fix.

Plugged it into VCDS and got the following message;

Controller: 03C 906 056 DP
Component: MED9.5.10      G00 9029
Coding: 0000072
Shop #: WSC 01392
VCID: 749B5FD357A3

1 Fault Found:

049493 - No Communication with Instrument Cluster
              U0155 - 008 -  Implausible Signal - Intermittent

Readiness: 0000 0000

End
——————————————————————————————

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

U codes are communication codes between modules -

Did a quick Google on this, found this https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?8607745-2009-gti-instrument-cluster-does-not-work-and-will-not-start

Also could be a cluster fault https://www.ecutesting.com/common-faults/volkswagen/volkswagen-golf-mk5-instrument-cluster-rebuild/

The ABS ECU sends the vehicle speed signal to the cluster.  Might be worth checking that module for codes also.
