So who does one???? Rather I think I must make this a little bit clearer in exactly what I mean!!!
I have a car that I need an mot on but I am a stickler for someone who will do a full genuine mot but with 1 exception..........the car is decatted. I do not want a dodgey mot as the car is too high powered to even entertain it (which I wouldn’t do anyway as I value my life too much🤣)
I just don’t want the emissions tested 😏😏
So does anyone use such a person????
Please pm me

where are you based?

Cut n paste from interweb:
ARE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS REQUIRED BY LAW IN THE UK?
Modern petrol cars are subject to much stricter emission regulations, such that vehicles must be fitted with a catalytic converter from 1992. It is a legal requirement that a catalytic converter must be fitted to all petrol vehicles in order to pass an MOT test.
There's a link that you can click on which clarifies the position that if your car originally had one fitted, it must be present.
It seems there are a few options:
1) leave your existing OEM cat in place
2) replace with a sports cat
3) gut the cat to give a cat less appearance
4) fit a de-cat pipe but refit the OEM cat for the MOT test
Cat by-pass pipes are so different in appearance that you will need to be pals with the tester in order for them to overlook it and test the car with the by-pass on.
I have no idea if you can get a cat less car to pass the emissions test, anecdotally your car being good and warm helps with the test, so maybe that is the key to passing when cat less. I have a BCS 200 cell sports cat and never had an issue at MOT time.

When I was in the same predicament years ago, my test station shoved their emissions probe up a 1.0 Lupo's exhaust pipe for that part of the test
Have you not got a cat you can shove on temporarily? Always handy to have one kicking around for the test.
-
Haha pudding I have a 1.2 corsa they can do that to but apparently that won’t be legal now. :fighting:
I do have the original cats from the car but my biggest problem is fitting them as both need going on and to do this it means dropping the engine ............aghhhhhhhh

Indeed it is, and always has been, but I have no conscience where that is concerned. If they hand me a pass certificate, all is well  People on here bash out their cats all the time and still get a pass
Ahhh, sounds like a pain then. Is it a 911 or a Ferrari or something?
How old is the car? Older cars have a much more generous CO pass limit, so technically speaking, if it meets the target without a cat(s), it might still pass.
Or you could stick a cat on the end of the tailpipe just for test

O M G the rspca will be after me for cruelty as I will need 2 .......1 for each side!!!!!!!
The car is nothing as exotic as a Ferrari but much more iconic :notworthy:

Am I right in thinking that if a major crash happens and a full investigation takes place, that car without a cat fitted will be deemed to be uninsured as it not classes as having an MOT?
