Title: Quick headlight refurb

So, after a vw dealer quoted me £549 For new headlights due to them being opaque I decided to by a 3M headlight refurb kit.
Took me all of 30mins to do both headlights and pretty please with the end product.
I heard you need to coat them afterwards to seal it?

Give them another once over with the compound and polish
Still has scratches

Yeah will do it again on Sunday.  Miles better than before tho.
I used Menzerna Super Heavy Cut 300 as the stuff you get with the 3M kit is crap.

Good results.  I had my 3m kit delivered on Monday, hopefully tackle mine on the weekend.

I got a new one off eBay about a year or so ago, think it was £50ish. Chinese obviously.
Looked so much better than the 13 year faded original. But, the plastic was glossier than a genuine and it has snapped on the clips at the top and the Philips screw mounts have snapped too where I've taken it off a couple times. So now it's being held on by the 2 torx screws at the top  :signLOL:

Am currently saving for a genuine one, does anyone know how much they are?

They look really good. Do you have a link for which ones you bought? I have an R32 and mine have a few scratches and small cracks around the edges and it's something I want to do on mine.  :happy2:

I painted mine last year with Autotek bumper spray paint.  Finish came out really well, and it's not faded in the mean time.  The paint really stinks, so if you do use it wear appropriate mask.

The lights will need relaquering or you could use colourless laminex sheet. I tried these and was never overly chuffed with the finish. Professional would do a better job I just didn't have one local. I've just given in and bought brand new Hellas for 300.
I sprayed my grills a few years ago, came out really nice and for a fraction of the cost to replace.
