Hi all
I am a newbie to this site. I have previously owned a MK5 GTI but then changed it and have now purchased a MK GTi Edition 30. I love the car but the ride seems to be much more choppy and rough than I remember the 'standard' Gti being.
Im running it on Goodyear GSD-3 Eagle F1's and ive had the tracking and balancing checked. Im just wondering, did VW make any changes to the Edition 30 suspension setup? Or could I have an issue with my car?
Any advice / suggestions would be great!!
Thanks
Tom

Pretty sure the suspension set up is the same as the standard GTI.
-
It seems to skip and jump around quite alot on most roads.

The suspension is rather fidgety and choppy as standard. The ride is actually better when changed to aftermarket dampers/springs or coilovers.
Koni FSD's and H&R springs are a good combo if you don't want to go for coilovers. :happy2:

Mine seems to be a little firmer than I remember my 06 gti being. I put it down to it just being newer. Although, once had my GTI and a mates ED30 parked together and his car definitely sat a little lower.

Thanks for your help guys

I know it seems obvious but have you checked your tyre pressures?
-
Did your old Gti run on 17's ?
-
Hi, yes ive checked tyre pressures, all fine. My old GTi had the 18in Monza II's
-
Just out of interest what are you running the pressures at?
-
I Posted the same when i changed from 2 other GTi's to the edition 30.
Steering wheels more weighty and feel via the road via the wheel is more noticable.Dont know why theres a difference. There must be some sort of alteration thats not noticeable on Parts (etka etc).
Definatley feels more firm. I ran 18 monza's on my GTi's and have (had) pescara's now huffs on the Ed30.

I found the Edition 30 to be quite choppy too, not what i expected TBH but you get used to it i guess
