Post by: vRS Carl on February 19, 2010, 11:38:52 am
Got these fault code below.

According to RossTech wiki for the first one it says

Possible Causes
Throttle Valve Control Module (J338) dirty/faulty
Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)

Possible Solutions
Check Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)
Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)

1 Fault Found:

001287 - Idle Control System RPM: Higher than Expected.
               P0507 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 01100001
                    Fault Priority: 0
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Mileage: 88289 km
                    Time Indication: 0
                    Date: 2000.00.00
                    Time: 00:12:48

                    Load: 14.1 %
                    Speed: 0.0 km/h
                    Temperature: 88.0°C
                    Temperature: 44.0°C
                    Absolute Pres.: 980.0 mbar
                    Voltage: 14.224 V

Readiness: 0110 0100

Then a bit later got this fault

1 Fault Found:

008825 - Leak in Air Intake System
               P2279 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 01100010
                    Fault Priority: 0
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Mileage: 88294 km
                    Time Indication: 0
                    Date: 2000.00.00
                    Time: 00:30:47

             Freeze Frame:
                    RPM: 846 /min
                    Load: 14.1 %
                    Speed: 0.0 km/h
                    Temperature: 91.0°C
                    Temperature: 41.0°C
                    Absolute Pres.: 980.0 mbar
                    Voltage: 14.097 V

Readiness: 0110 0100

Nothing on RossTech wiki for that fault.

Basically the car is Idling very high (circa 1250-1500rpm)

The only thing i have done is put a new battery in it that i got from the VW dealer nearby so its the correct battery as was done by part no.

Couple of questions

Where are the

Check Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)
Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)

And where it says leak in the Air Intake system is that literally from the EVOMS to the Turbo or is it also including the route taken by the gases as they come out of the turbo to the Throttle body? (i.e turbo outlet, intercooler, intercooler piping and throttle body hose)

Help would be appreciated as car is due MOT in a few weeks and will no doubt fail if thats not fixed

Did you actually quantify what new battery, W8 light and sharks fin aerial will contribute in hp?

Well it will be around 50bhp & 60lb/ft for the Battery

20bhp and 30lb/ft per LED on the W8

The Shark fin reduces drag coefficient so will now hit 62 faster than a formula 1 car and out drag the Thrust SSC

Not bad really for about £150 :signLOL:

Oh and i seem to have been a bit premature on the signal quality of the Shark Fin

It seems as soon as i leave my drive it no longer works.

Going to ensure i connected it up properly then will have to take apart and see if i can swap gubbins over from old to new

Alternatively any idea if you can buy  a signal booster?
