Hi guys can anyone tell me where the oil temp sensor is on mk5 golf gti

It's in the sump.  Combined level/condition and temp sensor.  You cannot read anything from this sensor with a full dealer lever scan tool though, such as VCDS.

I do miss the oil temp from the mk3 gti  :smiley: ( way ahead of its time lol)

You're not missing much.  It rarely gets above 100 degrees on the road.
My old Corrado VR6 on the other hand.....114 wasn't unheard of during summer.

I like the fact MK5s have no gauges. Ignorance is bliss.  Just drive the car and enjoy it  :smiley:

Well this is odd as I can display the oil temp in my mfd when using my Polar.

Polar FIS can access the oil temp sender in the same way VCDS does.  A lot of generic code readers don't have the right VW/Audi specific data PIDs.

So guy the oil temp sensor is a separate sensor located next to oil level sensor on sump

No it's the same sensor.  Dual purpose.  Temp and level.
