Title: New Insurance time
Post by: Lewo on May 20, 2019, 08:54:12 pm
So, renewal is due soon. So wondering if I'll go for it and get the car modded in this next year or not....
Going to call the usual places; Greenlight, Flux and Sky.

Are there any of the conventional Insurance Companies that will allow mods to cars?

Thanks

Standard insurers won't cover mods.

I'm with admiral with all mods declared. I just use the comparison websites and they ask if the car is standard or modified.

I used Greenline myself since modifying my car. They were a bit more expensive than Admiral (maybe 10%) but didn't mind as when you speak to them they actually know what you're talking about when you say "It's got a stainless steel downpipe with sports cat and 10mm wheel spacers" The people I've spoken too there showed an interest in me and my car.

Non-power mods (which included my TB Exhaust and Induction kit) don't cost any extra.

+1 on Greenlight. I have dealt with David there for several years and he really is an enthusiast. As mentioned, non-power mods only need to be advised and won’t affect the premium. I was previously with Adrian Flux but found they kept hiking the premium every renewal.

Anyone else insured with HIC?

Coming out quite a bit cheaper than the rest, wondered if any catch or hidden charges?

Thanks
