Hi all,
Please bear with me as I'm very very new to all this.
Was looking for some advice as I currently own a mk5 gti edition 30.
My question is do I keep the car or sell?
The car is one of a kind as it has the oettinger body kit factory fit at VW.
Any advice would be much appreciated

Only you can really answer that question, I can tell you want to do, but may not be right for you.
Keep it if you don’t need the money.

Edition 30s are over rated in my opinion.

100% worth the price difference. :innocent:

Hi guys thank you all for your comments much appreciated. I definitely don't regret buying the car and the stage 1 remap is well worth it 325bhp at flywheel and 300bhp on the road!
but my question is still the same, will the car be worthless in 5-10 years or is the market strong now? If I sold now I would be thinking of putting the money towards the golf r!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190620/ad489ed05be6e70453253571d102b2fb.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190620/852d1dacc09bd632e0ca7434c147a8ea.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190620/8f705df5d70302fd95b395208d89a7fa.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190620/0125aaa8be1042385789eb48f6c1c6a9.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190620/591b67e282588bd440f5b99bc4e8dc72.jpg)

I’m going to say that they are worth it, as I own one, but you should never knock it until have tried it yourself after all it’s just someone’s opinion that your making your decision on.
.
That’s all I got say live long and enjoy what you have

Hmmm, not feeling that Oettinger make over!
I agree that ED30s are a bit over-rated. It's just some colour coding and a different engine, seats and wheels. Not sure I would have stumped up the extra for that over a GTI when new tbh.

Me neither, I think that body kit could put some people off. If you are going to sell it I'd put it back to standard if you've still got the bits and sell the kit separately. The thing really bothers me with kits like that is that sourcing replacements in case of damage is likely to be difficult and probably more expensive than even the genuine VW bits.

I don’t recall any of the media reviews back in the day considering the ED30 to offer any meaningful improvement over the normal GTi. 10% extra power further up the rev range and some styling tweaks. No change to suspension / brakes / seats. Is a marketing department makeover and the standard car remains plenty good. Whilst the k04 engine is better for tuning, the fact remains that the traction limitations of fwd chassis remain unchanged.

Do you have a price in mind?
- and details so that a value can be determined ;-)

Not even a bigger intercooler for the K04 engine! It really is weird how VW went to the trouble and expense of making a separate K04 engine for the ED30 when that extra 10% power could have come from software tuning of the K03 engine. I guess VW engineers expected and silently encouraged people to tune the ED30 into 300+hp beast :happy2:
