Title: Sticky passenger door
Post by: asd30l on June 23, 2019, 07:56:20 am
The passenger door on my 5 door GTI doesn't seem to open on the first attempt, but will on the 2nd.

What do I need to check/replace to fix it?

If you mean when you pull the handle you have to do it twice to open the door then the actuator is faulty and needs to be replaced. Part #  3D2837015K

Could be the door lock mechanism needs adjusting, it did for me when mine started playing up, this might be worth a read as well.

I have this problem too, I think I need to replace the door lock. mine usually takes 2 pulls, and when I unlock the car with the fob it sometimes doesn't unlock the drivers door, I have to use the key (and then once unlocked takes 2 pulls)

has anyone tried the cheap ebay £25 jobbys? I don't fancy spending £140 ish if the ebay one is pretty good.

I fitted a genuine one from ebay, item # 163203390707 for £18.90. It is listed as for a Caddy and says its not compatible, but has the correct part number 3D2837015K. Wo`rked 100% on my 2006 5 door GTI.

Nice find FJB. I would find it hard to believe its Genuine Vag though at that price. But that wouldn't bother me. I will look to see if that seller does a Drivers side one RHD. Many thanks :)

Been having a little look into this - this afternoon. And although this is mainly referring to a fix once your lock becomes unlockable & lockable, I thought it'd be handy to share:

@FJB (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=42016) I looked on that guys other items, and I couldn't find a front Drivers side door lock (right hand drive) :-( but I might tear mine down and take a look using the above link, I like the idea of a little challenge and if it works, it will be a good achievement. Also like @Octoparrot (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=14844) said, it might just need adjusting.

Does anyone have the part number for the drivers side door lock/module/actuator (OS front. Right hand drive) please?

I had the driver side go first, it would not lock with the fob most of the time, and I replaced with a new cheap copy from eBay about £25, works fine. If you buy the drivers side make sure it has the part for the key and is rhd, a lot of them on eBay don't and are for lhd. The part number of the one I removed from the drivers door is 3D2837016. The passenger side went 2 months later, and got the one above, it looks genuine with the part number laser etched on the side.
