Title: L.E.D numberplate lights problem
Post by: Howardvwgolf on February 23, 2010, 09:18:33 pm
earlier my numberplate lights started playing up. I got home, opened the boot for something and the lights were on, then i got back in the car to move into the garage and the light out warning was on, when i got back out to have a look they werent working. So i turned the lights off and then on again, walked round the back and they were on and then a split second later went off again. Now they wont come on at all!! :scared:
Ive had them on a while now and not had any previous problems, any idea what the problem might be?

I got some of ebay (I will try and find the link) and they failed in under 2 months. Emailed the seller and he said they are having problems with the mk5 golf and some audis and refunded my money. Might be worth contacted them. :happy2:

I believe so he said they are having problems with the life of them on the mk5's and some audis. I sent them back and he gave a full refund. I just put the standard ones back in for now.  :happy2:

I had a similar problem when i had my fabia. got 3 led festoon bulbs from autobulbs direct and they failed within 3 months, told there was a problem with the voltage or current or something being wrong for them so went back to standard bulbs

Ok so I recently fitted the LED numberplate lights that were advised about on here off Matt

However one light has gone out.. so thinking a bulb was fubared I ordered some new ones, however turns out its not the bulbs  :rolleye: :rolleye:

So Ive taken the holders out and switched them over and discovered it seems to be a faulty holder.. However what could be faulty with the holder!? Its only 2 pieces of metal!?!  :fighting:

Rub the contact metal surface with a bit sandpaper & spray with contact cleaner if you have it, squeeze the contacts so they're closer together so you may get a better snug connection with the different sized festoon that's in
