Hi guys. So I’ve got the torque and been doing some data logging etc. The air temps on there are different than what it says on my dash. Just wondering if the torque app is using a different sensor than the dash? If so what sensor? The temps are always quite similar to the intake temps but have seen the air temp gauge on torque go up to 50c when giving her a good/fast run (weather was hotttt)

The dash gives the exterior temp, the Torque app gives the intake air temp, so after the IC air temp. Your IC suffers from heat soak.

Definitely need a better cooler. On a good blast my temps are within 5-10 degrees of ambient, and that's before the WMI kicks in

Thanks for the reply’s guys. So just to get this straight in my head. the intake air temp (IAT) is the temperature after the IC has cooled the air and the air temp is the temp of the air the intake is taking in? Also dan when you say 5-10 degrees within ambient, can you elaborate? I’m very new to all this. Thanks and sorry for being such a noob

IAT is measured inside the inlet manifold and is the temperature entering the engine. Thew ambient/external air temp is the temperature of the air outside the car. The intercooler should be able to keep the intake temperatures reasonably close to the ambient temperatures.

Thanks dan! :happy2:

I have an airtec stage 2 intercooler fitted the weekend,
Outside temps from the Screen was 25. Ob11 in traffic was reading 48
When I started to move and give it a little blip it dropped to 33. Is that good
-
Sounds about right, in traffic the temps will continue to rise as heatsoak sets in. If I'm in traffic with the A/C on I've seen it creep over 60 degrees on a hot day, soon plummets when the A/C is off or when on the move again.

Ok thanks will will give the car a good run at a constant speed see where it settles.
Am debating atm stage 2 or stage 2+

My S3 cooler reads the same. Ignore IATs at idle because the sensor is downstream of the (closed) throttle plate. It's just measuring trapped heat from the head.
5-10 above ambient at WOT is fine. You will never get ambient temps from any air-air cooler. The only way to achieve that is with air-water and with ice in the tank, and that's consistent, not just a transient temp drop from meth injection. Or if you want to get really fancy, run the air-water coolant through the A/C system like the Dodge Demon does.
Probably the best way to improve IATs and throttle response is to bin the massive front mount with silly long boost path, and fit an air-water system from an A45 AMG or one of them off an M5.

Cheers pudding,
It’s no race car but just trying to keep things healthy and running efficient best I can.
