Title: How common is oil cooler failure on a 1.6 tdi

As above if anyone has any thoughts  :sad1:
Car has done approximately 75,000 mls and now needs it as it completely failed without warning.

Has it put oil in the water, yes quite common just had it on a 2017 golf just out of warranty new rad and heater matrix etc a right mess

Yes dumped oil in water res.........not a happy bunny I might add as it’s approx £3000 for a dealer fix.
Looks like car isn’t worth the cost tbh as it seems to occur quite a bit😳

Hello there again the stealers cost way to much £3000 just plain crazy, you can replace oil cooler and rad and heater matrix and flush cooling system out and return to the road for a lot less by using a private garage not the main dealers. the oil coolers split quite often. VW don't and won't give any good will towards this failing even when car is just out of warranty which we had poor do
