Title: New Battery Time - Duracell Perhaps???
Post by: Juliand on October 17, 2019, 01:44:08 pm
I'm thinking of replacing my battery, before the winter sets in, and just spotted that Tanya now do a Duracell  DA 72 , giving 72 AH and CCA of 700, with 4 year warranty. £97 delivered......

Prior to looking I was thinking of VARTA E43  72 AH and 680 CCA , 4 year warranty, £79 delivered (£18 difference for a few extra CCA's?)

Any thoughts or experience with the Duracell.......or any other suggestions, please? Do TPS still sell to non traders?

Cheers

Get the highest AH you can.  Electric power steering needs it!  CCA isn't that big a deal and no car starter motor ever pulls close to 700 amps!  it's just a sales tactic.

Brand isn't that important really, but VW use Varta if that's any comfort.  Personally I just went with a Yuasa black from Halfords, which comes with a lifetime warranty for peace of mind.  I have experience of Yuasa batteries from my UPS days (Uninterrupted Power Supply) and they are a top brand, just not that well known in the automotive world.

Replaced my battery last year and was recommended to buy a Bosch battery which I got from euro car parts, they’ve a sale on just now 50% off batteries.  :happy2:
