Personally I declare everything and I mean everything, especially stuff like the last three in your not sure list
-
Same here - absolutely everything declared.
-
Its upto you but failure to declare even the smallest thing and they could declare your policy invalid, that said most of the items they wouldn't notice
-
YHPM!
-
The only thing that's ever increased my premium is more power - all the extras made no difference.
list everything.
-
jesus didnt expect that, elephant usually charge about £50 an item aswell................. Gulp !
surely the red gti badges, climatronic surrounds ect wouldnt need to be declared ?, tbh, IMO if im declaring stick on badges i should tell them about my tax disc holder and airfreshner
-
I personally wouldn't bother about small cosmetic things like seat lever inserts, climatronic rings and thr like but anything more substantial like splitters etc I would.
-
I have everything declared, down to the RS4 fuel limiter valve...and that looks identical to the standard one and NO-ONE would ever even think of looking at that, let alone an insurance assessor.

how will you feel if you don't declare some of your mods & if the unfortunate should happen and that some one prangs your car.The insurance guy says we have cancelled your insurance because of your mods you haven't declared.....

if someone prangs HIS car his insurance company wouldnt really care less as its not costing them anything.

This is why i hate insurance they get money out of you every year(just incase you might have a bump)yet if you don't!! think about how much money they get from you for nothing if you never have a bump :stupid: :stupid:
don't get me wrong i know you need insurance but it's just so bloody frustrating handing out money for nothing!!
iv'e not declared my last set of mods like-reverse camera, gti rear valance,gt back box exhaust,18" scirocco alloys, xenons, headlight washers, auto levellers, changed the front grill to a different colour!!!
i just hate the fact that it's all original vw stuff that i have put on the car,yet they will wan't more money out of me :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015: :angry015:

They would if the other side didnt have insurance

As nearly everyone has already said in this thread: DECLARE EVERYTHING!
I even have my spare set of Monza rims on the list so it doesn't matter which are on the car. Declaring everything is particularly important if you have a policy which replaces like-for-like. No-one likes giving money for things like insurance and road-tax but we don't have a choice so it's best to work positively with it, pay it and forget it and have peace of mind.
-
As echo'd - declare everything... simple.
-
Im looking to get a new insurer does anyone have any recomendations
trying to save some pennies
cheers

As everyone has said, declare everything. Its safer and less hassle that way.

I found Chris Knott to be the best for me :happy2:
They have been very mod friendly as well and only increased my premium for the remap, my other mods are listed but made no difference to the premium.
-
in the middle of telling some knob in a call centre about my mods, whats are coilovers ? what is an anti lift kit ? "what kind of engine have you put in your car "? -" No not an engine its an engine mount " -" yes but is it a 3 liter or two liter " - "Its not an engine, its a F*ckin Mount" Agggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........
-
Finally an extra £69, thats not including the remap, intercooler or ITG, ill fit them after september now and look for a differant insurer.
-
Greenlight dont charge extra for a remap, danGB insures his BT leon with them for peanuts and his has pretty much everything done to it!

hence no point dealing with mainstream standard car insurers if you want to mod.
better to deal with people like Greenlight who at least knows what the mod is and how it affects the car and give you a premium that reflects the car!
-
yip, ill be changing in september
-
Declare everything, especially after broadcasting to the world on the internet what you're planning on putting on and not declaring!! :scared:

....Greenlight do charge according to what power your remap takes you to. I think it's worked out in increments of 10 bhp.

Ive declared everything, it cost me £69
I also never said that i would not declare the mods, i said i was un-sure wheather to or not !
-
I believe you can change it now but you have to pay a cancelation fee for the remaining period. (At-least with Direct line anyway) :happy2:
-
Everything - no question
