Time to get hold of your balls and grip them tightly!!!
On Monday 19th April 2010 there is a proper trackday at the Nurburgring.
This isn't any old "tourist-farting" day, this is a bona fide trackday where there are only cars allowed and an open pitlane for 9 hours :jumping:
Another bonus is that it will include the sprint circuit, making it a 14.7 mile lap :notworthy:
They do not do these days very often and it isn't cheap.
I've already booked  and there are around 30 places left out of a 150 car limit.
Now man up and book on!! :popcornsoda:

think you'd need track day tyres to make this a worthwhile proposition, and not many people have the luxury of a spare set of those.
£475 just for the track action. so ~ 23 laps compared to paying per lap on TF day. Don't think i'd be happy doing that many laps in one day on the ring!
also should someone crash, and it closes the track, then you're still exposed to potentially reduced track time (and making the £475 VFM)
at least with TF you can carry your lap credits to any other TF day in the year.
Have you signed up for this then John??
-
Yes, I've signed up.
I'm planning on doing around 6 or 7 "flying laps", so that would be 1 lap out, a flying lap and 1 lap in x 7 = 21 laps.
I already have trackday tyres too
-
Teffers runs a tight ship, so that's going to be a well organised day.
A full day is going to be massively hard on both car and driver - I'd think more in terms of learning the circuit rather than getting as many laps in as possible to get VFM.
I know a few people going on that trip, you'll have plenty of good people around you.
-
That's good news Mr Danza :pomppomp:
Yeah, it will be more like 7 performance laps with 14 medium paced warm-up and cooldown laps at each side.
It is good to know we can use video equipment and the Racelogic performance box I have too.....as long as they aren't hand held.
-
ah look forward to the vids then.
How come you're selling the Recaro then? that'd be ideal for this trip...or u fitting something else instead?

Something a little wider :ashamed: and lighter

Reverie do some nice stuff.. I have driven a car with the GT seat and it was brilliant, they weigh nothing too..
-
I'm booked on this with Master Hurdy too. I think I might grab some track tuition like I did at Spa.

Yes, I've seen their stuff too but most seems to be Lotus based.
-
You've got some free tuition as part of the package, which is really good I think :happy2:
PM me your email addresses boys, I've got the instructors guide for the 'Ring from the BMW driver training on PDF. Makes for interesting reading.
Remember your circles and triangles on track too, marking turn in and apex.

so your booked in on the actual track day robin? or are you just going along for the trip?

....Actual track day. I expect it will be similar to the one I did with Hurdy at Spa and I loved that, dare I say more than a Ring Touristenfahrten day (though I love those too but not as much).
-
just make sure you don't do this lads...... :signLOL:

....That's not the safest entry (or exit) point for the Ring - I'd say it's the worst point.
The GP circuit pit lane will be open to us - A much safer entry/exit.

Robin
If you're planning on doing as many laps as that it might be worthwhile chucking these in:

Saw them the other day and nearly rang you, these are about 1/2 price and they'll be better suited to 20 odd laps of the ring than the DS2500. Shouldn't be too much of an ordeal having them fitted prior to you setting off and sticking the DS's back in on your return.
Very nice pads
-
Thanks, Dave :drinking:
Those are the pads which AP Racing recently recommended to me.

got this email the other day
If you fancy going overseas in 2010, we have spring days available at both Spa and Le Mans:
Spa-Francorchamps Fri 2nd April £249
Le Mans Bugatti Sat 10th April £249
Both days are exclusive Circuit Days events, run in open pit lane format, from 0900 - 1800. With Spa being on Good Friday (and the Nurburgring being open all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday) and Le Mans being on a Saturday, both events are expected to be very popular. So please do not delay in booking should you be interested.
We look forward to seeing you on track once again in 2010!
people could have a week out there :driver:
-
looks good this, although as said expensive as you can only do one fast lap really, good experience though :happy2: have fun boys.

....Circuit Days are very good. They organised the Spa trackday Hurdy and I went on. Nice hotel too. I thought about this but I think it's Easter and would be silly busy. Besides, I have daughter commitments then. April 2nd is my birthday though
But a week taking in several trackdays is a great way to do it.

....I never go for lap times anyway. I don't know the details yet but I'm not sure that a warm-up or cool-down lap would involve the whole Nordschleife. For me it'll be a great experience and very enjoyable anyway. It's surprising what you can learn when doing a slow lap anyway.
-
no what i mean is, i only do one lap at a time, so the benefit of open circuit would not make a difference to me mate, bet you can pick up some pace on straight though! new a lad who hit 205mph on a trackday there on the straight :surprised:

What in?
I'd be happy with a true GPS 170+mph :happy2:
Don't fancy doing 170+ with a Lambo or Carrera GT blasting past me at 200+ though :scared:
-
skyline, would cack it under bridge, that left hander would feel like roundabout at that :signLOL:
-
^^^^
Well I reckon we are going to see some very fast cars like the Lambos scream past us down the grandstand straight. My window will be down just a fraction to better hear the glorious sound
