Title: Wheel offset
Post by: kris on January 03, 2009, 12:27:13 pm
I'm looking to get some BBS CH 18x8.5. The ones I've got my eyes on are ET35 and running 235/40/18 tyres. Would there be any fitment issues onto a mk5 GTI with standard suspension? Offsets always confuse me, so any help is greatfully received! Thanks.  :happy2:

They won't fit I don't think, they are an inch wider than std so would stick out 12.5mm approx, then with the lower offset that would be a further 15/16mm so total 28.5mm more sticky out, to much me thinks

I'm running 235/35/19 with an ET45 offset IIRC with no issues.

KRIS was asking about a ET35 which I think will be to low with an 8.5inch rim

Thanks for your help guys. I've bought ET50 rims now which I know will fit OK because they came off a mk5!  :happy2:

The best fit is a 44/45 offset on an 8.5" width.

If you have 18's, you should be fine on a 225/40 tyre on a 8/8.5.

If slammed on 19's, a 215/35 tyre on an 8.5" gives the required stretch :)

Will 9" 19's fit on the Mk5?

They're ET41, whats the std offset?

No they would be a problem Wabbit, that again is about 28 mil further poke than a standard monza + i dont know whether you would get rubbage on the inside with that width of wheel.

Some 19" Audi splits are ET48, which would be fine. :happy2:

You'd probably still struggle if they were 9" width though, especially at the front!

True I think the 9" are ET42 which is no good, but the 8.5x19 versions are ET48 which is fine> :happy2:
