Hi guys
I want to present my car, i know is not a GTI, but please don't be angry on me :ashamed: :signLOL:
car: Skoda Octavia vRS
engine: 2.0T TSI
year: 2009
gearbox: DSG 6-spd
I have a strange model, the interior from the facelift Octavia, and the exterior from the old model
Mods so far:
- Forge Twinake
- Blueflame 3" turboback
- Bilstein B16 PSS10 Coilover
- H&R antiroll bar kit
- Whiteline Anti Lift Kit

- VW Racing front big brake kit (DS2500 + DS3000 pads, Goodridge brake lines)
- Golf R32 rear brake kit (Zimmermann discs, ATE pads)
- BBS CH 18x8J
- Michelin PS3
Near future mods:
- EVOMS intake
- Milltek turboback
- DSG Revo Stage 2
-
you dont like the blueflame then??
and we need pics! :rolleye:
:worthless:
-
I like blueflame, it's awesome, high quality. But the real reason is the most stupid reason you could ever hear from someone: is too loud :ashamed: although i got the resonated version.
I tried uploading pictures, bit it gives me an error and i can't access the forum for 5 minutes:))
here is the link to the picture gallery. Pictures made today with the phone. Hate the winter wheels

Very nice car and some great mods.
Thats some power for stage 1 revo from a k03?? or have you got the K04 turbo on the new Octy?
-
and some older photos with my first wheels, BBS CM

I have IHI turbocharger, not Garrett K03. Besides the exterior my car is identically with the 2010 Octavia RS, even the side mirros are considerably larger than the old one. All the 2.0 TSI on Octavia RS comes with IHI turbo. That's what i know. Hope i'm not wrong. I read on my turbo when i mounted the exhaust. It says IHI
ps: sorry for my english :ashamed:

oh thats a shame, how long have you had it because the longer ive had mine the more ive liked it, initially i did think it was loud but now i love it bit of a mission to drive quietly but its possible and i do it sometimes
you need to get the direct link then put it inbetween the ((http://)) icon

:happy2:
nice engine cover, did you make that ?
-
No, it came with it from factory
thank you for the info :happy2:
I have it for about 3 months. I only did 2000 km with it, because in the winter i have an bmw x5. It's loud beetween 2000-3000 rpm, when i'm in 3th, 4th, 5th, 6th gear and i accelerate from 1500 rpm, when is passes 2000rpm all the car starts to vibrate, it has that drone effect. Hope it's the correct term :ashamed: .
-
I notice you have the Forge Twintake but your list suggests you plan to change it to a Evoms. Any particular reason?
Are you in Romania?
-
Car looks mint matey, im interested to know what turbo you have on there :surprised:
-
^^^ It's the 2.0 TSI that's used on the new Octy, Mk6 GTI, Rocco etc.
-
^^^ It's the 2.0 TSI that's used on the new Octy, Mk6 GTI, Rocco etc.
305 BHP off stage 1! I didn't think that was possible :surprised: :scared:
-

-
I doubt it is. Even with those mods.
But being in Romania i would suspect the RR is being a bit optimistic. :popcornsoda:
Carl :happy2:
-
^^^ Umm, I am off to ETKA to see what's going on this the Octy and it's diferent turbo
-
The turbo is different i just don't think it is capable of producing what people are claiming
JKM Mapped a 2.0TSi with Revo and only got 243bhp
See here
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jkm.org.uk%2Fperformance%2FMisc%2FMisc_Performance_pictures%2FTSI-images%2FDyno%2520Graphs%2FRevo%2520and%2520Stock%2520Marked%2520Up.gif&hash=fba9dab9307e33e7915519cdae0260fb5ec4b2a2)
I think as usual Mapping companies are using Superchips RR to get their figures :signLOL: :signLOL:
Carl :happy2:
-

I'm pretty sure it left the factory with a K03 and the IHI has been added afterwards.
-
From what i have heard Ian and Keith & Jim said the turbo is different (not entirely sure if it's IHI or not)
I just don't think a car is going to jump 105bhp over standard (or if you get lucky and get a 211ps one 94bhp) with a remap and intake
Carl :happy2:
-
^^^ Yep it's listed in ETKA as made by IHI for the latest gen Octy :chicken:
-
^^^ Yep it's listed in ETKA as made by IHI for the latest gen Octy :chicken:
Very interesting, what is the hp output standard? :happy2:
-
^^^ Yep it's listed in ETKA as made by IHI for the latest gen Octy :chicken:
So does the Golf 6 TSI have the same turbo? :chicken:
-
^^^ It's a different part number from what I can see and has no listed manufacturer name like the Octy one does
-
How bizarre
I thought the Mk6 Golf/Octy facelift were all about sharing components and reducing cost.
-
^^^ Scrub that they are the same part number, but when viewing it on the Octy in the remarks it says IHI but not on the Golf :rolleye:
I am now very confused. :rolleye: :rolleye:

sorry for not answering, i was to see the Avatar movie.
Wow, so many posts, i'll try to make a general one to answer all your questions.
1. It came from factory with this IHI turbo. When i will change the exhaust i will make a picture to prove it.
2. I will change the twintake because is very loud (yes i now i am weird)
3. I am in Romania
4. The TSI has a new fuel pump, upgrated from the one with the TFSI. It's a whole new fule pump. TSI engine has chain transmission, and many more but you know this already guys.
And the last thing, why would i be lying? I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. These are the mods i've made to the car, these are the results.
ps: and if i would have changed the turbo, wouldn't be normal to put something that could give me more power than 300hp?

nope, us mere mortals with the normal TFSI usally puts the K04 on that gives about 300 BHP
-
and where's the logic in this? i would have changed the K03 with which i could have reached 270hp with a turbo that gives me only 30 hp in plus. C'mon.
-

kidding, i trust your info :happy2:
-
I'm not doubting what you are saying Teff.
Just that i think the RR/Dyno runs you have may be being a bit optimistic.
Carl :happy2:
-
me too, especially consdering the dyno plot for a stage 1 revo TSI on a well nown dyno
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jkm.org.uk%2Fperformance%2FMisc%2FMisc_Performance_pictures%2FTSI-images%2FDyno%2520Graphs%2FRevo%2520and%2520Stock%2520Marked%2520Up.gif&hash=fba9dab9307e33e7915519cdae0260fb5ec4b2a2)
-
no point turning TEFF's thread into another dyno lottery argument. JKM reads low figures everyone know that. Ive not seen a stock car hit what it should mine was way down and on VPower. They are great and i value Keiths advice when i ring them and i have read the notes on their website regarding proper operation of a dyno but i still think its low reading. Have a read of this TEFF if you get some time... http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/dynotesting.htm
-
Thanks guys. I'm not saying the Dyno is or isn't telling the right power. I think it's good because a friend of mine did a Dyno check to another company and gave him 350hp, and when he came to the dyno where i made the measurements he had 348.5hp. So the difference isn't that big. Skipping over this, i've forgotten to mention that i already payed a Quaiffe LSD for DSG. Hope to receive it in one month.
-
with Twintake i got 305hp and 500Nm
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg28.imageshack.us%2Fimg28%2F8076%2Frsalbastru.jpg&hash=f4c221f7ee777fa863e7df68b9710e8d7700296d)
and with ITG Intake i got 310hp and 480Nm
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg18.imageshack.us%2Fimg18%2F6695%2F86019b3440.jpg&hash=9cbd51a70a9fe3f2ac152a0e13c9840275a7f09d)
-
thats interesting, less torque but more power :popcornsoda:
-
at 480 nm of torque, you right near the "safe" limits of the 500nm of the dsg clutch packs!.
If the reading is correct, i wouldnt be going stage 2 or even +.
Rollers will vary, and theres no answer as to which set to believe.
As long as it drives ok, then thats the best to be happy with :happy2:
-
i am afraid also with the DSG torque limit because i don't have the REVO DSG Stage 2. This night i will meet with my local Revo dealer and he will take my revo stage 1 to a little less power and torque. I want to play it safe. It doesn't matter if i have 270 or 310hp, the roads in Romania are like crap. When i will make a turbo upgrade, then i will go up with the power. Until then i don't want to force the DSG or the Turbo
-
Teff,
500nm is a lot. The REVO DSG map upgrades the clutch holding power to 500nm, so you are at the limit. The DSG clutchpacks are relatively strong. Mine is running 562nm at the fly (548nm measured at the wheels!) and is holding up with no slippage, but I too sometimes wonder if it is a matter of time or not before slippage rears it's ugly head
-
But, i would had been nice if there existed an upgrade to DSG internals . Like on the manual gearbox you can get an upgraded clutch kit.
-
i dont think the dsg will slip it will just go bang and be in bits :scared: as a few people have found out the hard way
-

I have a spare.....just in case :jumping:
HPA do an uprated clutchpack. The internal bearings are SKF, so should be okay as long as they aren't dodgy bearings from the start.
-
if having the diff done i would get them uprated while it in bits no point doing it twice
-
Hurdy, Matt,
thanks for the tips.
Please give me more details, as I didn't study the DSG chapter in-depth
what is the clutchpack upgrade? only the bearings? or others too?
i'm asking because i can get SKF bearings strainght from the ROMANIA distribuitor (a very good friend of mine).
thanks guys.
-
The OEM bearings are SKF.
HPA make clutchpack upgrades that enable their twin turbo'd R32's to run up to 600bhp and similar torque :surprised:
http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.hgp-turbo.de/&ei=0UCQS5zNLZCM0gTC9cnjDA&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAsQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhgp%2Bturbo%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG
Click on the MKV R32 icon and the clutchpack is near the bottom of that page :happy2:
Not cheap though!!!!!!! :surprised:
-
Thank you for the help Hurdy. I know is not cheap, that's way i will not buy it. This car i will keep it for maximum a year. It's my day-by-day car, to use it in trafic, etc etc. I'm planning on buying the new RS5
-
Very nice, How do you find the 3" blueflame, is it loud?
I'm concidering getting the 3" Jetex
-
I have Blueflame with the big oval tail pipe. And it's extremely loud, i do not like it. Now i'm in doubt, i don't know what to do. To order only the back box with twin tailpipe's from Blueflame, or to order Milltek 2.75" tbe, or to order APR RSC 3" tbe.
Don't know what to do, a little help?
-
Milltek out of those 3 would be the quieter.
-
The Blueflame has a deeper tone, and between 2000 and 3000 rpm it is very very loud, all the car starts to vibrate, and in high rpm's is very quiet. The Milltek is exactly as i want, quieter and in higher rpm very beautiful. I haven't heard a Skoda Octavia RS with APR RSC. A friend of mine has one, but he's out of country right now :(
-
The back box on the blueflame looks quite small and maybe doesn't help the noise. Does it drone when cruising?
As i say I'm looking at the 3" Jetex Cat back with twin 80mm tail pipes, hope this thread doesn't put me off :sad1:
-
I have a 3" pipewerx downpipe matched with a 2.5" piper catback. its a little bit loudr than the 2.75" miltek TBE non resonated. I think it sounds ace. The missus doesnt like it though
-
I though Jetex was quite a loud system?
Seen some Youtube video's with this exhaust , and it wouldnt be my 1st pick tbh, but we all like different tones/sounds etc
-

Yes, it has that drone effect, and it;s very very pronounced
-
Jetex
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jetex.co.uk%2Fwebsite%2Fimages%2Fcatalogues%2Fexhausts%2F40-h9drlarge.jpg&hash=a7eacb2309064218b94433487c52e4b5a904cc6b)
Is your back box smaller than this Teff? I can't find any pics of Blueflame systems.
I think the Mk2 Octy already has quite a nice burble but could just do to be a little louder. What I wouldn't want is a LOT louder.
-
IMO opinion you just need the downpipe and not the full TBE. Not sure about the miltek varient but the pipewerx made it a much deeper throatier burble, which i actually prefer to how it is now with the piper cat back.
-
1 min i'll p[ost the pic
-
here it is
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg714.imageshack.us%2Fimg714%2F3751%2F03032010219s.jpg&hash=920040b85cc79b4360524cff9e28f36142f86717)
-
Thanks,
Well doesn't look very wide so I guess it will be bit more of a straight through design than one with a larger back box.
:scared: Decisions,Desicions......
-
i was thinking just to try to replace the back box, Because, between my back box and tail pipe is a very very large pipe, and if i get a backbox like the one from Jetex for example, in which from the backbox comes out two smaller tailpipes, the noise would be different.
what do you think?
I'm very confused right now, i would not like to give another 1500 euro for other exhaust. what to do, what to do?

I would imagine it would be quieter, certainly as quiet as a 3" system gets. After that there wouldn't be a lot left you could change.
Whatever you do keep this thread updated please I am following it with interest :happy2:
-
I must admit from the clip on Blueflames website it sounds quite good but then again its not an in car clip
http://www.blueflameperformance.com/prange.php?makeid=105&modelid=516&pageid=6
-
in the clip it sounds good, but i don't have a performant video camera to try and record the exact sound, to show you what i'm talking about
-
If you aint gonna get round to fitting those wheels do you want to send them my way?
I'd have had one on the car before the last one was out the box if they were mine!!!
Love Em!
-
which wheels are you talking about? the on that i use for winter? or the BBS CH?
-
definatly the CH's
-
i'm not selling those, i just got them
