Morning folks
As you know I had my STG2 + KO4 conversion done by R-Tech last year and am super pleased with the car. I’ve got a Revo induction kit, which was installed when I originally went Revo STG2. However, since KO4 conversion the intake whoosh has increased and although I initially liked this, it’s becoming a bit of an annoyance when accelerating. I installed a new battery at the weekend and needed to remove the intake pipe & foam cone filter. When I re fitted it, I adjusted it so it sat lower as it had been slightly catching The bonnet underside. That seems to have made it a tad quieter (May be a placebo effect) but can anyone advise how I can lessen the whoosh more? Is there another filter that’s less wooshy, or will I just need to accept that this is a given with any indication kit?

VWR is enclosed so less wooshy, but it's downsides are well documented on here (See Pudding's posts)
-
Fit a closed intake such as the VWR if you want it quieter. Otherwise changing the filter or tinkering with the intake will have a negligible (more likely placebo) affect
Bigger blower, more sucky sucky - more noises

Thanks bud
Have you a link to Puddings post on this? TBH I’m not gonna pay out a shedload more cash for another intake, so likely I’ll just tolerate it, but be interested to see what the negative effects of the VWR or closed intakes are??

What’s folks opinions of the Forge TwinTake? I’ve seen a few 2nd hand and know they fit well as most forge stuff does, but anyone out there using this and can comment weather it’s significantly quieter than the open cone induction kits? I know TR Hamza had one on his KO4 BWA conversion hence not concerned that it’s gonna affect the tune as mine is also by R-Tech

Have you seen the price of the twintake?

You mean the Forge pisstake ?

Managed to get a used TwinTake PissTake(
) for £200 and sold the Revo kit for £185, hence £15 outlay is fine with me. Will collect and fit on Saturday and hopefully lose the majority or the Darth Vader ROARRRRRR

Could you not put an enclosed filter on the revo pipe? I understand their maf scaling is better than most CAI and also that some people are fitting different brands of filter, so I guess it could also be possible to fit an enclosed one to quieten it down.
-
I guess that’s possible but too late now as it’s all a done deal. Good thing is the Hamza made same numbers as me with his KO4 conversion hence I’m not likely to lose any power or TQ. I’ll report back once I’ve swapped the kits at the weekend

Hi all. I’m hoping I’ve not made a total cock up here and need some advice/help. Got the TwinTake today, and fitting it. However it’s only just dawned on me the there isn’t a connector in the pipe that goes to the turbo that will take the DV pipe. On the Revo kit the hose had a small extension for the DV pipe to connect to. I’ve taken the blanking plate off the TwinTake pipe, but now not sure if I can get just the connector form Forge that screws on to the pipe to allow the DV pipe to connect? Anyone help or advise? Totally deflated

Ring forge and get the correct outlet connector from them.
My guess is the person you bought the intake from had it on a k03 car and lost the supplied k04 dv outlet connector as it wasn't needed.
-
Thanks bud. Yeah it was on a KO3 GTi, hence had the blanking plate and wouldn’t have come with the additional connector. I’ll try Forge tomorrow and just hope they can sell me only that part as their website states they don’t sell components separately for this kit

Well it’s all fitted now. Took a bit of tweaking to line everything up, and the standard hand wounding is also apparent. Just need the DV extension pipe and then I can drive the car

fwiw there is apparently a correct orientation for the filters for best airflow.
If the previous owner didn't use the preferred orientation then you should stick with his/her choice or else you risk sucking in filter embedded dust into the turbo.
-
Thanks bud. Yes you’re correct as I downloaded the fitting instructions and it states just that

looking good louie :happy2: Intake dont look too bad either

Hello mate!
Yeah it’s ok, as I said took some tweaking and pissballing about to get it to fit. Defo wouldn’t pay £460 for this, but £200 was acceptable and sold the other intake for £185 so cost me £15. Also managed to get the DV extension pipe from Forge and will be with me tomorrow, so can then fit and test it all out

Keep an eye on your LTFT as I bet itll approach the +20% mark
Poor fuel trims make the car lethargic when driving day to day.
-
What’s LFTF????
never heard of Hamza having issues and he’s exact same set up as me

I suspect he really meant LTFT (long term fuel trim). :happy2:

Ah thanks!!
Well it’s all fitted as I got the DV extension pipe from Forge yesterday. Went out for a loooooong test drive and the car is much quieter with virtually no indication roar, and from a driving and power delivery felt exactly the same as it did with the Revo kit.
