Title: Best Rust Converter - Suggestions Please
Post by: Juliand on February 26, 2020, 10:19:50 am
We have three Juliet balconies with railings that have rusted at the bottom on some of the upright rails, where they meet the horizontal rail (water holding over the winter), and with spring hopefully not far off, it's a job I'm gearing up for, but not sure which rust converter to buy, so suggestions appreciated. I'll follow up with white Hammerite afterwards. I've tried kurust before (which I see is now sold under the Hammerite brand), but it seems to come back.

Cheers

Thanks for that. Just looked at the reviews - very good. It's a rust remover, rather than a converter, which is actually better, but I'd previously thought rust removers required the item to be totally dipped. I'll give it a go? Will it stain or damage any existing paint though?

Evaporust is a very good product to remove rust.

Dinitrol and Bilthamber are pretty much the best out there, but nothing will beat prepping back to bare metal and zinc priming.
