Always better to do the common issues on these for peace of mind, dv,pcv and follower.
The dv can cause boost issues so I’d definitely change it for what it costs.

Sounds like DV. When I got my GTi it was the same. Changed the DV to rev G and was day & night. I’ve a OEM DV brand new fro sale if you want. £40 inc delivery

If the temp doesn't get to 90 quickly and stay there do the thermostat as well.
It'll send the right things to the ecu and it will run better.
At least mine did.
