Title: MK5 GTI EDITION 30 RADIATOR FAN
Post by: fahim4094 on April 03, 2020, 05:19:06 pm
Hi guys,

I've got an mk5 GTI Edition 30 BYD - my radiator fan is constantly running both of them - (Small fan/BigFan)

Error code: P2184 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2 (G83), Circuit Low.

My mechanic replaced the coolant temp sensor but that has not resolved the issue.

I have been advised it could be my radiator fan motor and I may need to replace my radiator fan - I was wondering would a AAX radiator fan work on my edition 30.

Did you know there are 2 coolant sensors?

one below the edge of the head (easy to access)
another behind the alternator (not so easy to access)

I don't know which G83 is though.

I had the same on my Edition 30.  Swapped both coolant temperature sensors but still had same problem.  It turned out to be a break in the wiring at the connector clipped to the front of the gearbox.  Only found it by plugging in VCDS and wiggling the wiring.

I had a problem recently with both fans nearly constantly on,on my wifes mk5 1.9tdi and it turned out to be a faulty air con switch. Replaced it and re gassed the aircon and the fans arent on now.
