Just fitted RNS510 to my gti,
The RNS is 3CO part no, version C made in september '09.
My car is a june 2007 gti with highline and mfsw,
I've searched all over for a way to get it to work, all seem to say it is the canbus. How do I change this, is it a program upgrade or a new piece of hardware?
I have vcds and have been trying everything all evening to get it working to no avail! Am I missing something?
My mfsw will change between mfd/convenience settings but all that is displayed on the nav/radio screen is 'volkswagen navigation' no radio station etc....
What do I do now??
Also my parrot bluetooth is no longer working either even though my phone is connecting to it, it isn't working.
Help please, thanks :happy2:

Unsure of the cause of the problems but to answer your one question. To change the canbus the correct version needs to be purchased and swapped with the original and than recoded. :happy2:

The sat nav just needs coding in, no biggy mate. Someone will be along shortly to tell you what to do.

Did you get the unit from ebay member cactus productions? I fitted one for Neil over on Golfgti.co.uk and his does the same in his mk6 gti, no audio display in the mfd and the nav just says vw navigation?? I've borrowed him a spare one i had until he gets another sorted. It defo sounds like some duf units or failed firmware updates???
Cheers

Have you unticked the "bap" in the nav coding?
-
Whereabouts are you Mark?
As JPC Said make sure BAP is un-ticked this is the usual problem when the NAV, MFD & MFSW are not "Talking"

I'm in Dublin, thanks for suggestions! I unticked bap in the nav coding. My head is wrecked with it! Its not picking up any satellites either. Just noticed this morning going to work. It could be going back to the seller! Although that coul just be a dodgy gps antenna.

If the BAP had been active the FIS would only show the standard stuff, no audio or nav, Personally think the firmware that the seller is putting on is duff.

I bought it from a lad here in Ireland who sells on ebay, I bought a couple of units off him before and were all ok.
I emailed him today so I'm sending it back to him and he is sending me a replacement so hopefully that will sort the problem!!

You could post up an Autoscan of your car and perhaps we can spot something.

OK, I got my replacement rns today and fitted it just there,
All is working almost perfectly now, I've got the audio and nav display on highline, my mfsw is working using the volume buttons and the star controls the nav system, not sure what it does yet as when I press it she says 'guidance system inactive' anyway not bothered with that just now!
My buttons on the very right on mfsw to change stations/tracks isn't working?
Everything else is fine, any suggestions?

I would first check the coding sounds like the short press steering wheel buttons is active on your coding, and this would stop the button on the right side working.

If you have not got voice control then only bit 1 should be ticked.
Once you've coded it don't forget to do a reset on the unit.
