I bought a standard 1 Din radio insert, it fits perfect. Looks like this: https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Stereo-Replacement-Pocket-Storage/dp/B076G666SG/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=single+din+pocket&qid=1595690190&sr=8-3

leave it empty and enjoy the extra speed that 0.5kg gets you.

Thanks guys -
As much as weight saving would always be appreciated, the single Din storage box may be the best - I have an android head unit, I think I will use the 2 USB connections, to locate the phone cable and the modem - currently its under the ashtray.
