Would you buy private ,independent dealer or VW only.
Budget is £14750 for a Tornado red Edition 30 with DSG ,I will add sat nav and cruise if not fitted.
Oh and heated seats.

Heated Seats are standard on the ED30.
For that budget you will be only really looking at private or maybe indie's IMHO :happy2:

i went to a few dealers  they had some right trash on the forecourt ..i found the best car for me on pistonheads via private sale..good luck with the search

Its pot luck really buying second hand is fraught with danger no matter whether it's dealer or private. :scared:
My advice would be to be patient and do all the proper checks. Dont get beer goggles for the first shiny one that comes along. :happy2:

prefer an indi as sometimes dealers can be over priced although you can get them to throw lots of things in, I nearly got a GTI, the deal was very good but someone beat me to the deposit, i'd always be wary of buying private the thought of handing over 15k and losing everything would scare me. Having said that I would have a little more faith in buying a car from a forum such as this providing the member had "history" and hadn't just registered to sell something ... i would also use the search button to see if they had complained about the car they were selling as mint :driver:

I got lucky with mine, one lady owner 24k miles and still on it's original tyres, albeit bald at front. Still it told me how easy it had been driven. I'd say search for something like that. Private should be ok as long as it hasn't been thrashed round the ring. If it has seen track action, get a warranty.
Good luck !! :happy2:

I'm hunting for the perfect GTI, and the vast majority of GTIs sold by VW dealers are absolute base model with zero extras, are far more expensive than independent dealers / private, and in short are nothing special. You get the extra peace of mind that a VW dealer may give you, and if it is less than 3 yrs old you get a 1 yr warranty from them. Worth the extra £1000 - £1500?
I echo the sentiment of buying off a long-time poster in the forum.
It's amazing how hard it is to find the perfect car once you get picky about the spec:
- Black, silver, blue or grey (basically not red or white)
- DSG
- MFSW, Highline, Cruise Control, Parking sensors
- Sunroof would be nice, not essential
- 2006-2007
- Low miles (max 40k)
-
Dont think you will get an edition 30 with DSG for £14.750 from a dealer, in fact for a good one you will struggle to get one anywhere for that money
