Which one is better?
Responses to be accompanied with supporting arguments, e.g. VW regulates boost pressure a lot quicker, or Forge one can handle higher boost pressures.
-
I've got the revision D next to me. Had the forge and it seemed like a pain in the arse to fit and plumb in. Besides I'll be selling up in about 6/7 months I wanted to keep it OEM so save the hassle of taking the forge and associated pipework off when I sell it.
Thats the only reason why I swapped and went for the OEM version. I'd have no doubts about the ability of each system to preform.
-
Bit of a politicians response... I need more substance!!!
If it was one or the other - which one would you go for?
I have both DVs sitting here with me - well the OEM one is fitted at the moment, just so that I can compare and contrast it to the Forge one I have been running over the past 6 months.
-
i went from the 'D' valve to the Forge DV - Yellow Spring - it was part of my quest to solve a flat spot - turned out to be the revo settings in the end
i also changed as I heard the noise was a bit fruitier with the forge - which it is when paired with a CAI in particular the ITG.
in terms of performance - forge seems to work well and holds boost solidly but so did the 'd' valve - there is a huge thread over on golfmkv.com comparing the two with logs etc - which shows the D valve works just as well
i like forge stuff though - uk company and their products seem well developed and produced, aftercare is always good too :happy2:
-
Unless you're adding loads of bits and a re-map, I'd stick with OEM..
-
OEM new version all the way , as good as Forge but fit and forget with no maintenance required...
when mine goes thats what I'll be doing :happy2:
-
just had a rev D put on the rocco after killing the G after 30k
-
Whats the best price people are managing to get the latest revision DV for?
I can get them for about £52 quid plus postage to the UK..
-
£50.29 inc VAT from my dealer today :happy2:
-
I've tried both, twice, and will stick with the D rev from know on. The Forge 1 works but so does the D rev for a third of the price and much less hassle fitting it. The D rev's been in min for over 10K on stg2+ with no problems at all :happy2:

they are only 40quid from the dealers aren't they? or they were when I got mine
-
Why is the Forge DV more hassle to fit on a K04?
-
On a K04 its the cuttin pipes and finding a suitable place to mount the solenoid etc, the std valve is just a bolt on jobbie :happy2:
On the K03 its even worse, cuttin pipes and all that and its under the car

picture of my rev G taken off the rocco today after 29,000 miles, dealer said he couldn't find a boost leak when we agredd to disagree earlier in the week should have gone to spec savers

My dealer refused to acknowledge that the diverter valve had gone - but rather my turbo was on its way out.
I soon put them right...removed the thing and showed them the faulty part... they were speechless!!! :fighting:

Are these items an easy job to check under the bonnet? does anyone have a picture and a big arrow pointing to it :ashamed:

its right infront of you (if you have the k04) not sure about other locations and its as simple as unbolting it 3 hex bolts and pulling it out to check, literally 2 min job
-
Cheers for that CUPRAK1. I've got a K03 but its probably in the same place. The large brass body which the torx bolts go through has the DV part screwed into the top by the looks of it( version B) I just need a larger ring spanner to get it out. Thanks again.
-
K03 DV its next to the turbo and a PITA compared to K04 site i'm afraid :sad1:
-
Ah bugger...what the hell was I trying to remove then?? Its positioned on the front right of the engine, big brass bodied thing with HITACHI stamped on it and what ever was screwed into the top said version B. Something to do with the fueling maybe?
-
Yep fuel pump :scared:
my advice take it to a garage ....
-
:scared:
be careful, that was indeed the high pressure fuel pump, Im glad you stopped
-
D'oh!! Right I'll leave that alone then!! I had a good look round when I had the engine cover off and getting to the turbo looked a right pain in the arse. One for the garage to check next time its in.
