std oem gti suspension spring setup to hard for local b roads.
do not want to sell my golf gti 06 41k miles 3dr which is totally standard and was wondering if i had any options as to springs and shocker settings ,mods,or after market makes that u would suggest in order for me to keep enjoying my gti!! in a softer less hard ride?.
my 1 year old daughter and wife are not happy with the harsh hop as it goes over a bump?

I've got a 2 year old and a 6 month old... and I find the ride is fine. Yep it's firmish but what do you expect, it would handle crap if it was really soft.... you sure your shocks are ok ?
My nippers fall asleep as soon as they get in the car, so the ride certainly isn't harsh.
I have a std 55 plate Gti by the way
Cheers

I will chek out my shocks but the b roads arround my house are bad?
had a wrx scooby for 7 years before this gti and that ws ok?
-
Are you running 17s or 18s?
17s will feel less crashy on the bumps and make sure your tyre pressures are not any higher than recommended - you could even shave them down by 1 psi , every little helps. But I wouldn't recommend you drop them any lower than that.
Try it and see how you go.

Have a look at the Koni FSD dampers :happy2:
....Exactly what I was going to suggest. They take the 'hard edges' off.

Thanks for the info :happy2:have found a koni fsd kit on the net for £450 . will i need lowering springs with this kit ?
or stick with the 188lb gti oem springs. a mate sugested gt tdi springs but im not shure that i want to go that soft i think its more a rebound controll of the spring rather than the spring its self but i might be wrong.

^^^^
You need a spring which will work with the KoniFSD's: Eibach Pro-Kit for example but not a spring which is too lowering because the damper needs enough space to travel.
Ask Koni or Awesome for advice about which spring options.

ok thanks about 20mm lower spring would do i guess.
running 17 inch alloys 225/45 with 32psi.
defo going for the koni cheeper than changing the car.
thanks again for this info. :congrats:

You can use the fsds' with the standard springs...

....I thought that might be the case but I wasn't 100% sure so didn't want to misinform.
Good to know :happy2:

Konis F.S.D on order from TSR will be here friday.
I will let u know if the mod and shocks work using std gti springs which i think are 25mm lower than standard and 190lb :scared:

:congrats: The koni fsd are on the golf at last and Waw !!!! its mint no more harsh hop and crash just a thud over pot holes and cracks.
top mod for the golf gti :happy2:thinking now about 18 inch rims its that good over the rough b roads.
and wot a differance in handling much better flatter around the corners and less dive when breaking.
using std oem gti springs !! its as it should be now.
KONI FSD top mod well worth the cash.
