Hi Guys,
I have an Edition 30 after owning a 56 plate 1.8T Polo gti with APR Stage 1 map on.. can't decide whether to go for APR again or whether to get the Revo?? Any help in pushing me towards the better option?
Also would like to know where i can locate the smoothed Licence Plate bumpers
Thanks
-
theres merits for both but for me the adjustability of Revo wins it
-
What pros do you feel Revo has over the APR Map?? What gains do you get from the Revo? I had a trial APR map on the Edition 30 and i was blown away. Gains showed 305hp which I thought was great....
-
I've had both, APR on my ED30 and REVO on my S3 and would be really hard pushed to chose maybe the adjustability of REVO may sway the decision
-
that is good :happy2:
mine ran 301 at stage one on revo on dyno dynamics. the thing that put me off APR was needing to spend the extra on cruise contol which i didnt really want. im sure the APR is just as good but the adjustability and customer service of Revo won me over.
-
A lot of people I've spoken to that have Revo have said the same thing.. I work for Audi so picked up a cruise control stalk for cheap so it was a touch really!! When I had the APR on my Polo it went to VW for a lot od warranty work and was undetected every time! Think I may need to locate a Revo dealer near to South London and trial it to make my decision.
Also from all the research I been doin Revo seems to be cheaper than APR!
-
No on your choices but Superchips bluefin for me, had an apr on a A3 1.8T and went for SC on my ed30, they are Vw linked, have excellent cust service and stand by your warranty (not saying APR or revo don't) but like being able to revert to std easily. The SC stage 1 is awesome on the ed 30.
-
How much did the Superchips set you back and what kinda gain did you get from it?
-
Custom Code are pretty good too :happy2:

Somebody pass me the gaffa tape for my mouth....quick!!!!
Seriously though, I swapped from CC to REVO and the car was faster and more powerful. The CC map was nice and smooth, just not powerful enough!
The adjustability of the REVO map does it for me too :happy2: There's one specific mod to my car that I couldn't have attempted through any other map without a lot of messing about to-ing and fro-ing with the tuner.

What the man says :happy2: £390 for a Bluefin Map, then a further £50 to jump to stage 2 last time i looked.

Standard is just sublime. IMO of course.

and problem free

Didn't mean it that way, but it just suits me, I was thinking about a remap a couple of weeks ago, but everytime I enquire, I ask myself what is wrong with the car, and TBH not a lot.
Decent brakes and a Quaife make the best of what I have got.
I like it, and that is what counts. But I wouldn't say that a well modulated and developed map will cause any more problems than standard.

Tell me about it... my car has gone into JKM with another fueling issue. Not sure if its related to the mods on the car, but the lambda sensor, low fuel pressure sensor and high fuel pressure sensor have been replaced. (The local VW dealer replaced the low fuel pressure sensor which didn't cure the issue). I think its now been resolved and I am £500 lighter... :fighting:

really
Id go APR, no known flat spot issues with their software at stage 2 plus. Im revo btw.

Not sure to be honest. I left it parked up for 2-3 months over the winter and it started hesitating at full throttle which I put down to old fuel. However, 3 tanks later the problem got worse and it started stalling - seemed to enjoy doing it in dangerous places like the motorway or a dual carriageway. VW diagnosed the problem as the low fuel pressure sensor and I had it replaced along with getting a full service. The problem wasn't solved however - surprise surprise - and JKM have now replaced the lambda sensor and high fuel pressure sensor and are confident that the problem has been resolved.

dave , you are a good candidate for custom code , its simple , very effective , in expensive and no hassle or trouble or running issues , i think you would appreciate it :happy2:

Totally agree, not a place I'll be rushing back to

i'm stage 1 superchips although once i get a few more mods done i'm likely to go for a custom map, probably from Jabba since they are local to me and made a good job of servicing the car.

Thanks Candy, If and when I do map the car, I will look into all offers and see what i think is the best.

For me APR, as the missus uses the car on a daily basis, and the last 4 month Denmark hasn't exactly been 333bhp country in a lady's hands, under 1 minute and it's ready to play in my hands  :driver:

from my APR stg1 Edition 30 review (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,3567.0.html)
Which remap ?
Heres a list of criteria you may wish to consider when deciding on a remap :
Customer base (size)
customer feedback
type of customer profile
distance from you
cost
development time and resource to produce product
updates
are they VW specific or other makes too?
time in business for this specific car make
dyno plots (both from company and from forums , they differ greatly). shape is as, if not more important than ultimate numbers
AirFuelRatio data, EGR temp data etc
ability and type of switching , stock vs mapped mode
adjustable (only REVO can do this)
For me APR and Awesome combo gave me the match.
Remember its not just the map but the person/company putting the map on that matters especially if you have an issue.
to be honest people are pretty much biased one way or another, so dont expect a reasoned set of answers :signLOL:
Use the criteria above and weigh up the options that match you best.
ability to adjust settings is a huge plus for REVO
I like the cruise control switchover for APR personally and also use 'lockout' for dealer work.
power seems similar from what Ive seen.
the updated v2.2 file for APR software (I had mine updated at Xmas) is really good.

go to your local APR/REVO dealer and ask them :happy2:

Hi I purchased my ED30 in September 2009, ( Came from a mk4 GTTDI 130bp , which I have re - mapped from the internet ) I spent the next 3 months reading many many reviews and reports, as I wanted to do it properly this time . I ended up going for APR with Cruise Control for which I traveled 120 miles for , when I had Revo and Superchip both within 15 miles of me . I must say I absolutly love it .
-
I had the APR on my Polo 1.8T and it was a monster!! 215bhp in tha small Car was bonkers.... It was a madness in the wet tho
I had the trial on my Edition 30 the week i got it and was blown away!! 305bhp from a map is quite blinding i think.. I may jus stick to what I know and get my trusty APR!!!! :happy2:
