Title: Dual Zone Climate problem
Post by: TedStriker on September 22, 2020, 06:19:58 pm
Hi,

Got a Mk5 Golf with dual zone climate so hope there might be someone on here who can help. To cut a long story short...

With both sides set to 'LO' and AC turned off (ECON), both side dash vents get air at ambient temperature. When I switch AC on, the right side vents get colder but the left side does not change.

If I switch to 'HI', both sides get equally hot.

I have VCDS and have verified the correct operation of all motors including left and right temperature flaps. The AC evaporator reaches 2C soon after switching AC on and stays there. The system has been regassed recently with no improvement.

If I push the button to send air to footwell vents, I get the same temperatures as on the dash vents.

The rubber pipe that goes to the glove box (apparently immediately after the evaporator) does not give any cold air - just ambient.

I have VCDS and have done extensive logging - figures available, but wanted to keep the inital post relavtively short. I also have another Mk5 which works perfectly so I know I'm not imagining it!

I'm at the end of my tether with this one - any ideas?

Thanks!

Not sure but I think theres a sensor behind the vent

Hi,

Have checked both left and right dash and footwell vent temp sensors with VCDS and they are all reading same as a thermometer put in the airflow coming out of them.
