Title: Headlight Control Panel
Post by: rdfcpete on March 18, 2010, 10:07:31 pm
As part of retro-fitting my Xenons, I'd like to remove the current Headlight control panel (I've got the chrome auto switch like the R32 ) and fit one without the halogen headlight adjuster toggle. Is it possible to do a straight swap?

This is mine currently:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fv394%2Frdfcpete%2FP18-03-10_2022.jpg&hash=722b5f8f8a3e7ace61786221de5cccf80d07c2b0)

If so on that note, does anyone have the part number for the OEM Factory fit with Xenon panel please?
Hopefully both are the same size etc and the wiring doesn't need to be changed

Thanks guys  : :jumping:

I think (1) is the one you want.  Use the Part number 1K0 941 334 C REH.

Darren and Dave to the rescue, thanks boys  :drinking: :happy2:

I'll order one.
Any idea on price?

So it's definitely a straight swap?
This is ace, means I'll have OEM everything headlight related barring the levelers  :jumpmove:

Daren,

When you removed the headlight switch and unscrewed the torx screw behind it, how do you get the rest of the panel off to swap the dash control switch?

I tried prizing it gently with an trim removal tool but it wasn't coming.

Thanks

Thanks fella. It can't have been too bad if you didn't remember it being a sod, although I couldn't where to pull/unscrew next. There's only one naked torx screw and with that popped off, (having removed the headlight switch) it wasn't budging at all. I've quite clearly missed something  :chicken:

Pete there is a clip either side of the switch you push these in and pull,  are you at the back of the light panel?  I presume you are? if you look at the part you have bought you will see what I mean :happy2:

Cheers

Hmm sort of, but I just don't think I've taken enough panels off as I can't physically get my hand in to get to the far side to release the clip  :signLOL:

I'm this far;

Pete that panel where your knee would be and where the full light switch is, the whole of that needs to come off there

1 torx screw behind the light switch, turn to the off position - push in and hold - turn clock wise and it will pop out,  you'll see the screw.

Now take the little cubby hole tray out - drop down and squeeze the sides and pull out with a little bit of force, you'll need to get on your knee's to see the screw under the panel - there is also 2 other screws you'll see straight away.

Drop the steering down take the upper cowling off with the bit of faux leather on it and take the right hand screw out.

The panel should just drop away from the dash then...you'll have access to the adjuster and you'll also see what I mean regards the clips.

Cheers
