Title: I Must be Mr Unlucky
Post by: vRS Carl on March 19, 2010, 03:18:26 pm
As per the title i am Mr Unlucky as everything seems to be going wrong at once.

First problem - Went to JKM RR day on Feb 20th. On way down got a huge stone chip in the windscreen which turned into a 2 foot crack the next morning. Had to wait nearly 2 weeks for replacement (Done on 8th March ) Obviously had to pay the Excess which for my Policy is £70

Second Problem - On way back from JKM car developed faulty front wheel bearings. Drove round with this annoyance for 2 weeks. Took car for it's MOT and problem to be looked at. Result - Car failed MOT due to needing 2 new front wheel bearings.

Third Problem - On way to Dealer to get Wheel Bearings sorted got another Stone Chip on windscreen. About size of a 5p so was lucky as it could be repaired Free of Charge. Wheel bearings sorted. On way back another stone hit the windscreen pretty much bang on where the last one hit (i'd be proud to put 2 bullets that close together) result i now have a crack in the screen about 5 inches long meaning yet another replacement which can't be done till this thursday and is going to cost me yet another £70

Fourth problem - After having wheel bearings fixed i was looking forwards to getting home and fitting my wheel spacers. Only its fooooooking raining.

There are a couple of other problems that are in the process of being sorted which involve shocking customer service

The only good thing i can think so far is that i get married in less than 2 weeks (yes i honestly do think that is a good thing  :signLOL:) otherwise the last couple of weeks has been pretty grim.

I think this song was written for me

i can only say that it's great getting married, i never have to use time and energy on sex, so the car has ALL my attention, meaning that i have projects for app. 5500£ atm  :stupid:
So yes marriage gives you time to 100% attention to your car  :jumping:

Me too. You've only really had wheel bearings fail. The windscreen could be blamed on you tailgating, in which case it's nothing to do with luck  :P
Only kidding mate.

My list of problems will run into hundreds of pounds to fix  :sad1:

I fold!

I wouldn't spend a grand fixing my golf. If one problem alone was going to cost that much, I'd drive it off a cliff first!   :driver:

They say bad luck runs in three's, so I reckon you should be clear of it all from now on.

I hope so  :drinking:

Yea, i blame the spanners that decided it was a good idea to mix in 2 foot rocks with the road salt to make it last longer.

Whats that all about  :surprised:

Ive chipped mine too :sad1:

How come 2 wheel bearings failed suddenly at once? Is it a problem with these cars?

No.

When i spoke to the guy in the garage he said they had never changed a bearing on a car that young. He said it was more likely to be the Sawtoothing (inside of tyre goes like a 50p) of the tyres at the rear.

However i changed the tyres round (as he suggested) and it was still there. So took the car to them (when i was going for my MOT) and the technician got in and i drove about 50m and he said yeah sounds like Wheel Bearings.

Did the MOT and it failed due to both front wheel bearings.

He said it was the first time they had ever heard of that and he was even more shocked that both had gone.

Good result though they covered it under the Warranty which they originally told me it wouldn't be. They also never charged me for the failed MOT. So all in all it cost me £54 for an MOT

just worth noting, my car at 11 months old developed a faulty fronty wheel bearing.
