I’m going to replace the bushes in my front bottom arms, I was thinking of using an anti lift type on the back and then a standard front bush and new standard ball joint.
I’m not really a fan of poly bushes and have read mixed reports on the anti lift type, they are expensive too.
Has anyone done the above and can advise what they went for, prefer to stay as oem as possible but not against worthwhile changes.

I used mainly PSB poly bushes on my suspension and a few powerflex ones with the engine/gearbox mounts

Calling 'pudding' ....he had just put a comment on another thread, I can't recall off top of my head, about using TTRS ones on the front which he commented were more fit/forget. If you search his users posts it should be recent

It's the s3 one upfront - is solid rubber without the voids of the stock GTi one.

Ok thanks, I will do some research and probably go with oem S3/TT console bushes then do oem Gti on the other 2.

I personally went for the Superpro front arm / ball joint assembly with road durometer bushes and don’t have any regrets. The combination of stiffer bushes and more camber (but curiously no more castor despite the offset / ALK rear bush) makes for more incisive and feel-some steering, with better traction.

I think the Salk is worth doing but i may keep with oem on the other two as i dont really want to firm the ride up.
Cant see an issue with this?

I don’t think you will regret putting solid bushes on the front. S3 Rubber oem or road durometer poly. Is a key location for sharpening up the steering and the won’t be any significant effect on nvh.

Completely agree on S3 versions. I replaced the console bushes on my Dad’s .:R32 with S3 solid console bushes and they gave more positive handling with no trade off in ride compliance - he’s 74 and the oldest boy racer in town so would have noticed!
Prior to that I changed my own GTI’s complete lower arms years ago for new genuine S3 versions including the solid console bushes, and again, they only made the handling more positive and gave a noticeable improvement in feel due to the reduction in unsprung weight. I was so impressed that when I refreshed my suspension (Bilstein B8s with VWR springs), I went the whole hog and fitted the matching alloys hubs with new bearings to improve this aspect further.

Problem is the superpro are £170 compared to the upgraded TT bushes which are £40.
Are they that much better?

I doubt it! May as well take the s3 and spend the saving elsewhere.

So after much reading I’ve decided to go for the super pro anti lifts for now as the other bushes are fine, a little expensive but probably worth it.
Mainly because they are supposed to aid with improving front end grip which is a bonus in my eyes.
