Title: Traction control issues
Post by: Mike243 on December 13, 2020, 07:48:20 pm
Hey guys I got a 2008.5 gti and my traction control won’t shut off. It definitely works as it should but I can’t get it to turn off ,and with winter being here I really need to be able to turn it off to make it up my driveway lol.   The button is getting power as it glows red when I turn my lights on but it does nothing when I press it.

Any ideas or things to look for?  Thank you!

The illumination will be seperate power to the on/off, seems like you have a switch fault.

How do I go about fixing that?

I did replace that and it still does not work.  Is there another control switch or any other switches to check or wires

Thanks

Do you get the orange skidding car graphic in the instrument cluster when pressing and holding the TC button?  If you do, the switch is working.

ESP is always on btw, you can't disable it on MK5s.  And T/C defaults back to enabled again when you restart the car.  Nanny state BS.

No I do not get that orange skid on my dash when I hold down the button. It only comes on when traction control comes on if my tires start to slip.

Does it come on when you initially put the ignition on?
