Title: Gti gear knob boot needs replacing.

So my leather boot / gaiter could do with replacing. Can anyone recommend we're to get one from and can I just replace the boot and swap over my gear knob?

I think the gaiter and knob are one piece.

Gaiter is removable  from the knob.

Under the knob is a plastic collar that sandwiches the gaiter on.....Pop that off (flat head screwdriver) and the collar will release the gaiter.

I have done this to many VW and Audi cars I have owned over the years.

I currently have a MK7 GTI knob with a ED30 gaiter.

Or one cheaper just for the gaiter and keep my exciting gear knob

I have a genuine Mk7 GTI knob I got from a breakers and the quality is noticeably better than the copies (weight and feel when handling it due to being solid metal not plastic etc.......difficult to explain), but have got aliexpress gaiters in the past and they are good quality for little money.

But what did you pay for it and was in nearly new condition or worn?

For info, new part from Coverdale Car Parts, "Gearknob goes over to new number 5K0 711 113 E  UZD    - £156"

I paid £45 from a breakers and it was/is in VGC
