Hello, looking to change the cam follower. I have stock MK5 2009 GTI at 76k. No issues but I can’t see if it’s ever been done.
I’m going to change it myself.
Just checking the part NO is correct.

Is this the latest revision/correct part for my car? I also see Fuel Pump Sealing O-Ring WHT005184 should be changed also.
Thanks

Correct part number for the cam follower. That's the one I had fitted to my axx engine.

The garage I used to use did me over on this item.
I had the car in for a full service and HPFP cam follower change. In the report following the service they said it had an oil leak from the HPFP.
Well DUH, you had it in your hand, could you not have just put a new O ring on it while it was out?

Coverdale car parts do a genuine cam follower kit with new fuel pump seal and bolts, they are a great company to deal with.

I've just had a strange experience with the cam follower. My GTI is currently in the workshop and I emailed the guy asking him to change the cam follower. He emailed back with a quote to change 16 hydraulic lifters (parts + lab = £1000+)! Not even sure what those are!

Techinically he's correct (ish) but the cam follower that needs changing is the high pressure fuel pump cam follower.
He should know this...

Ordered the kit from these guys. Thanks

Wait...can someone help me here? I thought the 2009 is a TSI EA888 Gen 1, with the different HPFP and a roller cam follower.
Here in the states VW swapped in the TSI in mid 2008. Was this not done everywhere?
GreigC ...is this your engine?

So the EA888 went into the MK5 GTI here in mid 2008...but didn't happen there until the MK6 GTI?

That’s correct roh echt
