Hi guys I’ve currently got a Audi s3 8p sportback, I used to have a mk5 Gti find the s3 quite boring to drive it’s just fast doesn’t handle great feels really heavy. Considering swapping it for a edition 30 used to love my mk5 Gti but thought it lacked power. Anyone else had experience with both ? Unsure what to do

Hmmm, that’s what I’m looking at getting next.
The mk5 is a great car tbf

I haven't come from an S3 but I have gone 7.5 R DSG to a manual Ed30. Found the R boring and not particularly quick for 300 bhp. Much prefer my Ed30 and zero regrets going to what some people would consider a backwards step.

I really am considering selling up and getting a nice edition 30

That is just the extra baggage of 4WD, and soggy Audi suspension. You can either spruce up the S3 with better suspension and engine mods, or sell up and get the Edition 30. Even a relatively cheap Bilstein B12 Pro kit would transform the S3. The S3's CDL engine is a lot better than Edition 30's engine, and night/day better than the GTI's.
MK5s are more nimble through corners for sure, but once you map an Edition 30, you will miss the 4WD.
S3s seem boring by comparison because there's no dramas, but if you like torque steer, wheel spin and wheel hop and no traction out of corners, get the Edition 30

So you think I’ll get more enjoyment if I mod mine rather than getting a edition 30?

Maybe try a quality remap first and you might think differently, if your still undecided and want to sell, it shouldn’t put people off if it’s a reputable one.

A remap will wake the S3 up but at the end of the day you may find you just have a faster boring car. When I had my 7.5 R I found it super boring, everyone said to remap it and you'll love it. I went in a stage 2 R and just didn't feel it, still didn't really do anything for me so I've gone Edition 30 and wouldn't entertain going back to a R or S3. I'm not interesting in 0-60 times, the roads I drive on is more about 40mph upwards. In that respect my Ed30 at 302 bhp is a fair bit quicker than the R I had. There's a stretch of road near me and lamp post to lamp post I've run the Ed30 and R, the R would probably need to be 350 bhp to make the same speed at the second lamp post that the Ed30 does. As for CDL vs BYD isn't there only intake cam profile and intercooler that are different, the CDL having a slightly more aggressive intake cam and so makes a bit more torque when mapped. If I ever go 2+ I'd probably just have the intake cam from a CDL fitted the same time as doing the cam follower to roller conversion and an uprated intercooler would go in regardless.
