Hello everyone. I'm sorry my first post is a post where I ask for help but I've literally spent hours on hours trying to find any information regarding my issue with no luck.
So let's get to the point. My Mk5 GTI makes a strange noise while at low rpms, from 1k to around 3k. The faster the rmps, the faster the noise (if a noise can be fast, sorry english is not my native language lol)
Could it be the chain and the tensioner?
Here's what the noise sounds like:
The video is from mid January but the noise is still there.
Car drives absolutely fine, no fault codes or anything.
It's a 2005, AXX with just over 107k km.
It has a ramair intake, mapped to 235km by the previous owner.
I really hope someone could point me in a right direction, tell me what the cause of this sound might be.

Where does the noise sound like it's coming from? Top or bottom of the engine - left or right side? A clue of where the noise is coming from may help narrow it down.

So hard to pin point noises from videos but that sounds like a bottom end (big end) bearing knock to me.
Needs sump off, oil pump off etc to inspect.

From what my mechanic says, the noise comes from the right side of the engine, the timing belt area.

it does sound kind of bottom endy! does the noise change at all when you hold the clutch down and rev slightly?

Might have to double check it but I’m pretty sure holding the clutch down doesn’t change the sound at all
