Title: High pitch noise on acceleration
Post by: Vdubbers97 on May 09, 2021, 09:37:52 pm
Hi everyone

I’m looking for some help on a noise on my new mk5 gti on 113k
It’s had new alternator pulley new belt aircon regas and found an issue with the high pressure sensor that is being replaced.

Now the issue with the noise, it’s very high pitched and gets less loud as it’s driven and only under load, it sounds like a rotating pitched noise that slows when gear change and then picks back up again, any ideas is appreciated!
Thanks

Without a noise recording my guess would be the turbo bearings or a bearing in the gearbox.

If you coast down a hill and take it out of gear and not rev it........any noise?

Try it again but leave it in gear without accelerating.......noise there, then it is the gearbox or.....

Try again out of gear and rev the car to spool the turbo...........noise there now with reving, it is the turbo or a bearing on the cambelt side possibly

A few ideas to eliminate areas

Hi guys, it does not do it when idle and I rev it the noise completely comes to a stop when I let of the gas and the clutch is Down, how do I post a video with the noise?
Noise was present before new parts where fitted to try stop the noise, the car still drives as normal and boost hits hard and good it’s stage 1
