Title: Key fob fubar
Post by: Dopey on July 26, 2021, 07:20:59 pm
It locks and unlocks manually and starts, but the remote isn't working and no led is coming on pressing the buttons, so I guess it's fubar, who are replacing key fobs apart from dealers? thanks

Have a ring around local car locksmiths, they're usually much cheaper than the dealer.

have you tried changing the fob's 2032 battery and reprogramming the fob?

How do you reprogram it then?

If you have another working key fob then you could what  vRStu posted in the past:

Using a spare key switch the ignition on.
Insert the key to be programmed into the driver's door lock.
Manually lock the driver's door using the key.
Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.
Wait for a least one second.
Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.
The vehicle horn will sound to indicate correct programming.

If no spare fob then it's probably a professional (dealer or locksmith) job for coding.

Thanks for that

Pop a battery in it and see how you get on. I've replaced batteries in my key with out reprogramming with no issues.

She said she replaced it already, and it worked for a few days, then stopped again, I will try resetting it first, then the battery

Buy a decent battery if you haven't.

The key fob is now working, I took it apart, cleaned the board with IPA and put a new battery in, I have just tested it, and its working fine now

Looking on youtube, I see when you lock it, the indicators flash, and you get a small beep as an indicator that it's locked, mine is not doing that, Is that just the usa or is that meant to be for UK cars also, If it's how do I go about setting that up, I can't find it in the book any place

you'll need to code it in with vcds or the like to get the chirping sound when you lock the car.

I'm only familiar with vcds so hopefully someone else could help you with this.
