Title: RCD330 - pre-programmed CANBUS
Post by: Duelsy on August 02, 2021, 03:25:54 pm
Hi all,

New owner of a MK5 Golf GTI. Picked it up Sunday. I parted way with an Audi RS4 B8, as I'm saving to buy my house. GTI seemed like a great run around, really enjoying it. :happy2:

I'm looking to upgrade to the RCD330 head unit. My car is a 56 plate, I believe I need a canbus change to avoid battery drain. I know @Pashka (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=5723) used to sell pre-programmed ones but not sure if he's active on here anymore (I've messaged him just in case). Therefore wondering if anybody else provides a similar thing?

Cheers

He

If you have VCDS or know someone who has, its just a case of noting all the selected modules in your current systems first (screenshots of the old canbus selections are a must here) and replicating them on the new module once it is fitted by name.

When I did mine note that the new canbus units have a longer list, which also means the module numbers will not correlate between old and new.

Not just the installation list, but also the coding for each module as that is the most important part.

I had one fitted at VW Retrofits in Birmingham. I think he'll ship out pre programmed ones too. https://www.vw-retrofit.co.uk

Was about £80 fitted from what I remember.

@Pashka (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=5723) did mine a few years back. He also coded my mk6 flat bottom steering wheel. Rate that guy.
