With the PUMP mode selected (305) the turbo is intermittent, taking foot off the gas then back on sometimes help, but I can't be bothered with that all the time.
So I flashed the stock map back on, and the car drives normal. Sure, it's not as fast when in boost, but the car at least has a personality then. Turbo works when it should.
Few questions though, is it normal for the boost to have 2 stages? It will turbo around 2.5k but then a second wind at 5k.
Does the boost work more in the higher gears? With the 305 map on, the boost in second gear isn't as powerful as say 4th.
I have given up driving like it's a VTEC i think, took some getting used to, am used to no power until 6k RPM.
-
power at 6k is all wrong should be around 2.5k ish
-
Yeah I feel the grunt at 2.5k and another surge later on.
-
no it should pull nice and hard from 2.5k
-
Is the boost dependent on how much throttle you're giving it?
-
do you know any one near you with vag com? it needs taking out and testing if you ask me as it should pull hard in all gears, i dont have giac map i have revo but i think one or 2 people on here have the same map as u so hang on for them to speak up
-
Cheers buddy. I will ask the local forums for VAG COM.
-
in stock mode mine used to boost hard, then around 4500-5500 used to give another slight kick.
It sounds like with your map its showing a component as being faulty maybe that isnt noticeable with the stock boost.
-
stock all the way.............. :happy2:

GIAC has lower boost request than Revo so the second kick you feeling is simply due to stock like boost delivery which means the power and torque curve is very linear..
Also the reason for the less boost feeling in the lower gears is due to GIAC keeping the stock torque limit in the first two gears..
-
Would there dash show any warning lights if there were any error codes to check?
-
Keith @ washsshop (on here) has got GIAC on his ED30 - he might be able to help tell you how the map pulls.
Certainly with my bluefin it pulls HARD from 2500 right round to about 7000 with no peaks or troughs.
Where are you based mate?
-
near inverness mate. I have ordered a revision d dv in case mine is split, i get a hissing noise and car has done 27k, alot of that mapped.

Hissing noise when the car is hot and stationary coming from the front of the car?
-
no mate, out on the road with the foot down.
-
Had my S3 GIAC remapped yesterday and mine pulls hard from 2.5k but does give an extra kick at 4 - 4.5k too.
Loving it

have you guys heard about the new giac extreme map? Cars running that map are meant to be seriously quick.

Discussed it yesterday ( stiil in Beta testing i believe ) but if it's anything like the Hammer map then it didn't make the power and lost the linear power. Just what i got told yesterday......by the GIAC agent.

The extreme map is still not set up right for our cars as far as I'm aware guy got his s3 done with that map by my tuner and the car was running like a bag of mince so resorted back to the pump and race maps  Thats what I run on my ed30 and on pump it runs fine pulls well from 2.5k up the rev range :driver: Then on Race it feels like an animal
Saying that i've had the maps switched off for the last month due to the clutch being pumped :sad1:
-
Unfortunately I've also heard a negative experience from someone who tried the extreme map and found it to be lumpy at best with no noticeable increase over the standard map.
-
OK so when in 305 mode the car pulls great but when it warms up it feels like clutch slip. Taking it to a garage tomorrow to read any error codes. Would a goosed clutch show error codes?
-
Nope no error codes from a clutch :sad1:
-
I see, hopefully it will be something else then, with a code to prove it.
Is there a test for a slipping clutch, like flooring it in 4th from 20mph?
-
Car still running sh*te on Stock and Pump mode, so put it in Valet mode just to see what it's like and fook me :jumpmove: :jumpmove: the car pulls hard from 2k all the way to the limiter :driver: :driver:
God knows what's going on there, some sort of f*** up, but at last the car shifts like it should :jumping:

sometimes the ecu gets confused when switching maps. Changed my revo settings once and the bloody sps plus switch bought on the airbag light!
-
Yeah I think stock and valet mode are swapped over.
Pump mode is just sh*te, maybe my clutch can't handle the power for it anymore.
