Title: Winter wheels for ED30 - recommendations?
Post by: GVLJ on September 10, 2021, 10:10:25 pm
Looking for some ideas/advice on winter wheels for the ED30.

For instance - can you fit 17s with standard brakes? And are there any obvious VAG options that are cheap and readily available?

All advice greatfully received.

Cheers!

Yeah 17s fit over standard brakes.

I think the cheapest and easiest option is the standard winter option, which was 16" steels.

The wheels can be had for a reasonable sum here - https://www.mrwinterwheels.co.uk/16-vw-golf-v-mark-5-steel-winter-wheels.html

As for tyre choice, you'll have to shop around for options in that size but avoid anything really cheap and crap for obvious reasons!

I like the look of MK5s on steels actually, and the ride comfort of 205/55/16 is amazing compared to the 18s!  So much so you might not want to refit the 18s again
