Hi guys and girls, I’m new to this forum and also a new owner of a MK5 GTI DSG variant. I’ve had the car for only a matter of 3 days and I have already experienced my first issue with the car. All was going well until I have got into the car, turned the ignition on, placed the car into Drive and released the handbrake. The car moved at most 2 feet before the power cut out and the car would no longer move. This occurred twice before third time lucky the vehicle switched on and remained on. I was able to put it into drive and continued on the rest of my journey with no issue. I have no idea what might have caused this and would be grateful if you guys could help me figure it out. I have the car booked into Rtech for a full health check/diagnostic check to find out what is wrong with the car but I’m hoping it’s not anything too major. Could it be the ignition coils/battery? Or might it be something a lot more expensive?

Quick update to anyone who wishes to lend me a hand, I’ve opened up the bonnet and found that there is a piece of plastic which forms part of the air intake I believe which has come off. I suspect this was when I had the car washed and engine bay cleaned and they must have just left it broken off. This left a wide gaping hole in what I believe is the intake. Could it be the issue that this caused the engine to be starved of Oxygen for combustion? And I can’t seem to re attach this plastic bit. Again any help is appreciated.
