Just curious, how much is V power where you live?
It's £1.65 where I live in Suffolk. I reckon it will be £2 by the end of the year :stupid:
I haven't checked Tesco 99 lately, but is that massively rising in price as well?
-
Tesco 99 - 1.51 in Cardiff.
Not checked v power for a while, on the m5 south bound before the fuel mayhem it was about 1.65, I bet its about 1.80 now or something silly.
-
162 near me. Can't remember what Tesco 99 is but I am sure it's around 150
-
It's £1,63 for V Power in Bristol. I asked the cashier why it's gone up again in the space of a week but she thinks it will go down soon but other petrol stations need to all do it in line cause they all follow suit .

Just filled up today, 1.58 at my local in Hampshire, mate in Cumbria says it's 1.65.
-
Paid £1.62 for Esso 99 last week, won't fill up for a couple of weeks so dare say fuel prices would have jumped up again by then.
They really are making up for lost time last year aren't they...
-
I'm old school - That's £7.50 a Gallon!
Always the further from a refinery is more expensive - I'm lucky to have Grangemouth just up the valley from me
Next fill up is going to be at Costco - should be 5p a litre cheaper than anywhere local.
During lockdown their poverty unleaded was 99p per litre - brought back fond memories of the naughties!
Currently in the US they are moaning about their smaller US Gallon being $4.50, converting our price + volume it would be $8.33
-
£1.58 here in Pontefract.
Hope it comes down again soon... fortunately I don’t do the mileage.
Probably a sign of the time though, won’t be long before they’re all converted to electric charging stations!
-
Thankfully I do about 4k a year. Last time was 1.59.
-
Think I'll drop down to Shell 95 for a while then as there are 5 of them on my daily route. Tesco 99 is an utter ball ache to get and I'd end up burning off any cost savings sitting in traffic
I get through a tank a week, so £85 x 4 isn't pleasant.
I probably get 2 chances to hit more than 3psi of boost per 80 mile round trip, so 95 unleaded isn't the end of the world. Everyone drives like some kind of retarded road slug these days. Speed limits are apparently optional now.
I heard on the radio last night the price hikes are blamed on OPEC throttling supplies. Who'd have predicted that as EVs become more mainstream
-
tesco momentum £1.52 per litre
-
£1.54 for Momentum when I looked yesterday. Thankfully I do so few miles it doesn't really matter, a full tank will last over 2 months. I live on a terraced street with no off road parking but me and the Mrs have discussed selling our cars and getting a fully electric car to share, need to see how we'd go about charging it before deciding.

Beat that!!!
-
I'm not looking forward to the next fill, it's gone totally stupid now.
-
Just filled up tonight, still 1.58 by me. :happy2:

Did you quit at 5 litres?
Ridiculous price!
-
I think I put £20 in to get me home.
-
tesco 99 back down to 146.9 near me in west london
-
I stopped looking at the price - it just upsets me :signLOL:

1.61 for ultimate diesel :rolleye: Rollerskates when i go back to work in january :signLOL:
-
petrol today £ 1.64 a litre momentum £ 1.53 e10 Asda bloody crazy
-
Drove past two Shell stations this morning and one had diesel up at £187.9 and the other had it up for £179.9. Pardon my French, but rural Shell stations are utter greedy c'nts.
It's hovering around £1.67 in town. V-Power petrol is hovering around £1.73.
Looking at historic petrol prices, unleaded was £1.40 in 2012.......so a 20-30p hike over 10 years really isn't that bad?
It will defo go past £2 litre at some point during the Ukraine/Russia conflict.
-
£77 to fill up this morning, and only getting about 260 miles to a tank (only doing <5 mile journeys atm).
*Goes looking for a 306d turbo to run on veg oil*
-
bp ultimate 97 £1.59 in coleraine northern ireland,
suprised at shell being so expensive after just buying up a fortune of oil from russia at over 70% cheaper than a week ago, their argument was they needed it to supply their customers, when clearly it was just to make 3x the profit

They were fun cars back in the day!
400 miles covered this week so far in the TDI and still two thirds of a tank left. I'm struggling for reasons to keep my ED30 at the moment. That needs refilling every 3-4 days.

Wow that's impressive. What year/engine is it?
I'm considering getting a diesel as a second car something like the old PD130 engine but anything less than a grand now is falling to bits.

2009 MK6, with the 140hp flavour 2.0 CR engine. Nice solid car and very frugal. Obviously not as fun as the GTI but at the moment, double the mpg is more appealing!

And the other thing worth considering is 2nd hand car prices… You’d easily get £7k for yours at the minute….
Then use it to buy a 306DTurbo!
One of those in the ice blue they did was my dream car when I was 16, I was adamant I was going to get one as my first car. But I ended up with a Vauxhall Nova instead.
-
Let's see the next months... I would not sell a car for a 1-2 month fuel preice raise maybe yes if this is for 1 year

Really? Blimey. Not so sure my very tired 165K miler would fetch anywhere near that unfortunately
Back in 1994, my employer had a fleet 306 D Turbos, and compared to the MK2 GTI I had at the time, it was epic. Not quite as quick but handled waaaaaaay better. I remember the Nova SR fondly, and the Fiesta XR2, XR3i etc etc. Although everything is S3 this, RS3 that, A45 AMG etc etc now, waaaaaaay better cars, they just feel like generic products rolled out of a mega factory, which are unattainable for most people as a cash purchase. There was something much more fun about picking up a beater of an XR2 and hustling it down a back road at 3 in the morning, not caring if you crash it or not

There's an ice blue one (i think it's ice blue) on ebay at the moment....It's not too late! :-)

167000 miles and they still want £2700…!!!! 10 years ago I could have got with 90k on the clock for under a grand…
Still looks nice though!

Just have a look at some of the sheds on eBay with 140k on, they’re still asking £8k…
I know what you mean, modern cars now just seem unattainable, people asking £10k for a 12 year old A4 with 100k on the clock… I remember in the Autotrader when I was a lad and there was an entire section in the back for cars under £500. Yeah I know modern cars now are much much more reliable and less prone to rust, but for under £1k today you’re talking a Cat D write off ex taxi with 200k on the clock.
-
I'm way too honest and morally balanced to sell a shed for way over it's worth  Well, it's not a shed, I'm being overly harsh given it's mileage. It's just that I've had it 8 years, needs work, complacency/boredom and all that
I'm torn between carrying on with the GTI and stick a new engine/turbo in it, happy in the knowledge it's sorted for another good few years. Or give up and pay through the nose for something newer, but then have to start over with the issues and mods etc  Either way, the ol' bank balance is due an imminent clobbering!
