Title: Upper engine mount options
Post by: deltawing on February 04, 2022, 02:46:43 pm
Which engine mounts is everyone running?

I have the upper and lower 034 dogbone inserts, but still have lots of engine movement, car is running original mounts with 83k on them. Get an occasional clunk from the gearbox side and very pendulum like at low speeds

My options so far

Lemforder mounts (£120) optional powerflex inserts (+£80)

034 street mounts (£350 with bolts)

Revo mounts (£300 bolts included)

Which is the best bang for the buck? The 034s seems expensive for  just an expanse filled mount and nowhere in the uk seems to stock them just has them on back order so possible month wait and not sure if the revos are hardcore.

Lemforder sides
Vibratechnics subframe
1K0199855BJ revision torque link (solid bush instead of voided)

Works plenty well enough for a road car.

I recently fitted:
- Meyle upper engine
- Meyle lower torque arm
- Febi gearbox
- Powerflex yellow dogbone insert (retaining the factory dogbone bush)

Overall very happy with the improvement. No particular reason for choosing Meyle / Febi other than my usual approach which is to generally buy dealer parts and if not the dealer, a credible aftermarket brand. I wouldn’t fit brands I haven’t heard of or the obviously cheaper parts.

Either the gearbox or engine mount had VW part numbers obviously ground off.

The Febi mounts have the VW logo and part number ground off, both engine and gearbox sides.
